Amazing value for the price (used)
Built in mahogany with a flamed maple top, a set maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, this is a magnificent guitar, which is clearly inspired by PRS. The finish only suffers from one flaw: the microphone contours tend to oxidize over time. Except for this, there's really nothing at fault, it is high-end, much better than my Fender and Gibson US in terms of care for details. The mechanics are super flexible, the guitar never goes out of tune. The through-body strings provide almost infinite sustain. The neck is easy to play. Compared to my other guitars, it's like driving on a deserted highway. The SH-1 is really beautiful, well balanced, it cuts easily in the mix (a good point for a neck pickup) and really shines with the reverb and delay. Even though I really liked the SH-4 in the studio (it also cuts very well in a band's mix), I replaced it with an SH-16, just as good and more flattering in clean because less loaded with mids (moreover, the split is very beautiful since we have the "custom" coil that works particularly well with that of the SH-1). With this configuration, you can play whatever you want, from modern rock to extreme metal. I play a mix between shoegaze and post-metal on it. Cort is a very underrated brand and it's a good thing. You can get this guitar for less than 500 euros and at this price, it offers better value for money than the PRS SE (which are themselves built by Cort, of course!). I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to play a modern guitar but is nevertheless versatile enough to play classic rock when you want to.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
I'm in love with the Seymour Duncan SH-16 so that's clearly my go-to position but the SH-1 can be great for a clean part.
