Owner Insights

    Source
  • Owners note that the Longhorn requires special strings due to its unique tuners, which don't accommodate standard bass strings.

    Source
  • The Longhorn's truss rod location and bridge design make it challenging to set up, particularly for adjusting action height and achieving optimal fret buzz control.

    Source

User experience

  • There's a mention of neck-heaviness, but the overall lightweight design often offsets this balance issue for players.

    Source
  • Some players use the Longhorn in genres like Rock, Punk, and Blues, highlighting its versatility despite its niche appearance.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • LaBella flatwound strings are recommended by users who prefer a different feel and tone than the stock strings provide.

Both Fun and Versatile!

A bass that is perfect for people with smaller hands, like me! With a little tweaking one can find the sounds of a Danelectro or a Jazz Bass, just to name two. The Danelectro concentric knob controls are super innovative and instantly recognizable to any guitarist/bassist.

If you don't know by now

Yeah, Danelectro is quite unique and this bass is not like any other. Currently only available in copperburst or black from Dano. Good news is people are finally beginning to sell '98 reissues on Reverb.

C

Lite with good tone and easy playability.

Pretty good bass.

This is my backup bass at shows, i will often play it when my main bass gets to be too heavy on my back. Very light and versatile bass. It has remarkable tone for being passive!

This bass was one of his first basses he bought. This was done because Rinus Gerritsen (Golden Earring) and John Entwistle did play on one. He never really used it in his most famous band, Doe Maar, because the bass lacked low end.

He once signed it and sold it for charity. Then later he wanted it back for a project and bought it back from the seller
