Features and functionality

  • The neck has a relatively thin yet wide "C" shape, providing a different hand feel compared to the thin "C" of a Strat and the "D" of a Les Paul.

    Source
  • The Wilkinson vibrato is a vintage-style unit with a cast baseplate, preferred for its durability over bent steel.

    Source

Comparisons

  • One owner, with guitars like the Gibson SG Special Faded and Explorer '76, ranks the CST-24T above an Epiphone Les Paul Studio in terms of playability and overall satisfaction.

    Source
  • The CST-24T's 25" scale length and 13.75" radius place it between a Strat's and a Les Paul's specs, contributing to its unique playability and feel.

    Source
  • The CST-24T is often compared favorably to PRS SE models, though the PRS has a solid maple cap versus a veneer on the Harley Benton.

    Source

User experience

  • After owning multiple guitars, including Gibson and Epiphone models, users find the CST-24T competes well, particularly in playability and lead tone sustain.

    Source
  • The neck is described as straight and flat, with low action ideal for shredding, although some find it unremarkable after extended use.

    Source
  • Multiple owners report the CST-24T as notably comfortable, despite its heavier weight compared to a Les Paul Studio, likely due to better weight distribution.

    Source
  • Despite initial setup challenges, owners report that the CST-24T plays and sounds comparable to more expensive guitars after adjustments.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Replacing stock tuners with Wilkinson tuners significantly enhances tuning stability, addressing common complaints about the original tuners being subpar.

    Source
  • Applying nut lubrication with a dab in the string slots can significantly improve tuning stability, especially with frequent vibrato use.

    Source
  • Some users plan to replace stock tuners with locking tuners for better tuning stability after vibrato use.

    Source

Build quality

  • Owners find the green color vibrant and appealing, even if it's not their usual preference, indicating that the finish quality is notably high.

    Source
  • The Roswell HAF pickups use Alnico-5 magnets, offering a hotter PAF sound with a Telecaster-like bite when coil-tapped.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Removing the middle spring from the vibrato can reduce stiffness, making it easier to set to float and more responsive to light touches.

    Source
  • The nut often requires lubrication to prevent string binding, with some owners using lemon oil to address a dry fretboard.

    Source
  • Users experienced high string action past the seventh fret and required truss rod adjustments to reduce fret buzz between the 12th and 18th fret.

Harley Benton CST-24T Electric Guitar - The Best Inexpensive Guitar? - ?

guitarpedaldemos.com

The Harley Benton CST-24T stands out as an exceptional value in the affordable guitar market, boasting impressive aesthetics and solid performance across genres. Its pickups deliver a rich, full sound, even in split coil mode, and the finish rivals much pricier models. However, it’s worth noting that the guitar is on the heavier side, which might deter those seeking a lightweight option. Overall, this instrument competes fiercely with brands like Squier and Epiphone, offering a quality experience that exceeds its price point. If you’re after affordability without compromising on quality, the CST-24T is a strong contender.

CST-24T Review: Even though I've only had this guitar a couple days, it's... | Harley Benton | Electric Guitars | Reviews @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

ultimate-guitar.com

This review celebrates the Harley Benton CST-24T as an incredible value and a worthy alternative to higher-end models like the PRS SE Custom 24. With standout features like a Wilkinson vibrato and Roswell HAF humbuckers, it delivers impressive sound quality, particularly with its coil tap functionality. The fit and finish are also praised, showcasing craftsmanship that exceeds expectations at this price point. However, the tuners are flagged as a weak link, lacking the locking mechanism that would enhance stability, especially with the vibrato. Despite this minor flaw, the overall sentiment leans strongly positive, with the reviewer eager to recommend it to those looking for an affordable yet capable instrument.

Review: Harley Benton CST-24T - Worth It? - Strefa Gitar

strefagitar.pl

The Harley Benton CST-24T dazzles with its stunning Paradise Amber Flame finish and surprisingly solid build for a budget guitar. While the meranti body may lack the richness of mahogany, its comfortable C-shaped neck and stainless steel frets elevate playability. The versatile Roswell pickups, complete with a coil-split function, offer a wide tonal range that suits various genres. However, a professional setup can enhance its performance, and brand perception as a "budget" model lingers. Despite these drawbacks, the CST-24T stands out as an exceptional value, making it a worthy choice for beginners and seasoned players alike.

Affordable Gem - Everyone Needs a Beater Guitar

A moderator and 30 years of session and touring on FB was talking a lot about this guitar. So I decided to get one. Wasn't expecting much and the price was right for a beater to have around. I found the set up good some fret work was needed but the intonation and action was solid. Finish is not top notch but for the price amazing excellent. Being a split coil the volumes can be quite noticable in most cases but not with this guitar so much. Single coil sounds pretty clean and quite good. Humbuckers are solid. I won't be replacing then as I thought I would. It is a beater after all, right? All I can say it is a fun guitar to play with and a joy to use.

mertunpoodersun

This is the pinnacle of cheap guitars.

It's got a Wilkinson tremelo, coil splitting, a gorgeous finish and it looks like a PRS! Just go and get it already!
