Description
This bass was built bij Rinus Gerritsen himself to get the twang of a shortscale longhorn and the easeness of a Fender Precision. He got the idea when he got hold of a doubleneck Danelectro bass / guitar.
He used his old '62 Fender precision (for the neck) and a Danelectro Longhorn bass with a custom made body for it.
As for pickups he used the pickups from his Danelectro Longhorn bass (lipstick pickups) and a Bill Lawrence pickup

Rinus playing the famous doubleneck longhorn bass he built back in the 70's with his father. This is one of the instruments Rinus is famous for using. It basically combines the Danelectro Longhorn shortscale (30" Scale bass) with a long scale (34" Scale) Fender Precision Bass. The shortscale side has a Kahler Bass Trem.
This bass was mostly used from the mid 1970's up through recording/performance of "Cut" in 1982 and maybe sometimes afterward when he started using the "Warhorse" basses that Vox Humana now makes (a Dutch luthier). Typically the more aggressive sounds come from teh short scale neck and the more traditional bass sounds come from the Long Scale.
