    Source

Features and functionality

    Source

Comparisons

  • The Music Hall USB-1 and Crosley Advance are likely from the same Hanpin factory, offering similar features like a counter-weight.

    Source
  • The ReLoop RP-2000M, also Hanpin-made, is preferred for its direct-drive quartz platter and adjustable tone-arm height, suitable for DJ use.

    Source
  • The Audio-Technica AT-LP120X offers a direct drive motor and improved tonearm gimbal over the Music Hall USB-1, making it a popular choice for record stores.

    Source
  • The Ortofon 2M Red is often perceived as inferior to the OM10, with suggestions to skip directly to the 2M Blue.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • While listed at $250 locally, some have found better vintage setups for $160 through thrift stores and Craigslist.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

    Source

Mods and upgrades

    Source
  • Replacing the standard AT3600L cartridge with an AT-VM95E can enhance audio fidelity, but proper alignment with a protractor is crucial.

    Source
  • The Ortofon Super OM10 cartridge is recommended for $100, allowing future stylus upgrades up to the $400 OM40.

    Source
  • The Audio-Technica VM95E cartridge, under $50, offers good channel separation and works well across music styles.

    Source
  • The Shure M97xE cartridge offers punchy high and low ends, suitable for those not seeking a flat response.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • In a small 10x20 sq ft room, better speakers, like the Polk XT20, improve sound quality at low to medium volumes, more so than a turntable upgrade.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners experimenting with multiple cartridges find the OM10 and VM95E offer surprising quality at their price points.

pitch is way off

the default pitch for this thing is way deeper than it should be. it's ok tho cause it has pitch control so i just tweaked it until it sounded right. other than that it's been fine.
