    Source

Features and functionality

  • The crossfader is not top-tier but usable for precise techniques like crabbing if handled carefully.

    Source
  • The Numark PT01 lacks a start/stop button; users often mod one in, risking damage to the unit's face.

    Source
  • The STX includes a USB record out feature for preserving scratch sessions digitally, absent in the PT01.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Recommended mods include replacing the tonearm and needle, and installing a proper RIAA amp for enhanced performance.

    Source

    Source
  • A Jesse Dean replacement tonearm can be fitted on the STX for $129.99, allowing for high-quality cartridges like Shure M447 or JICO J44A7.

    Source

    Source

User experience

  • Owners appreciate its portability for impromptu jams or small venue performances where carrying a full setup is impractical.

    Source
  • Owners report the STX tonearm as more "wobbly" than the PT01, yet it still performs well for scratching.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The pitch control on the PT01 is a knob, approximately +/- 8%, while the STX uses a fader with "Ultrapitch," which is more versatile for 7-inch scratch records.

    Source
  • The STX's fader positioning avoids crossing the tonearm, offering greater comfort compared to the PT01's layout.

Numark PT01 Scratch Turntable Review - Digital DJ Tips

digitaldjtips.com

The Numark PT01 Scratch is a portable turntable that shines in the niche of portablism, thanks to its lightweight build and convenient features like the Scratch Switch and USB connectivity for vinyl ripping. While the built-in speaker disappoints and it lacks the robustness of club-standard decks, its portability makes it a fun choice for scratch enthusiasts on the go. It's not ideal for club gigs, but it’s perfect for hangouts and scratch meets. With its ability to handle both 7" and 12" records and the option to mod, it stands as a versatile tool for vinyl lovers. At a price point just under $150, it’s a bit steep for its category, but the portability factor might justify the investment for dedicated enthusiasts.

REVIEW: Numark PT01 Scratch portable turntable – DJWORX

djworx.com

The Numark PT01 Scratch is a portable turntable offering an affordable entry into the world of portablism, with its standout feature being a built-in "scratch switch." While it brings a lot of fun and practicality for scratching on-the-go, it compromises on durability and left-handed ergonomics. The sound quality is adequate, but not exceptional, and the scratch switch's longevity is questionable under heavy use. Despite these drawbacks, its low price and portability make it a compelling choice for beginners and modders who want to explore scratching without breaking the bank.

Small, But made 4 Skratchin!!!

The PT-01 Scratch is versatile, good for sampling and scratching, and just for listening to music. The only two things I recommend getting to go with it, are the scratch steady by stokyo, and the MK Head shell weight. Apart from that, it's perfect!!
