Native Instruments Thrill

soundonsound.com

Native Instruments' Thrill delivers a captivating sound design experience, ideal for those crafting dark, cinematic tension. With a hefty 40GB sample library and a unique XY pad for performance control, it offers an impressive range of atmospheric and dissonant sounds. However, its niche focus may limit its appeal, and the price tag of $299 raises questions about value for those not dedicated to film scoring. While it shines in creating suspenseful cues, it might not suit every composer's toolkit. For professionals in need of high-quality tension sounds, Thrill is a worthy investment, but casual users may find it excessive.

Review: Thrill by Galaxy Instruments / Native Instruments - Sample Library Review

samplelibraryreview.com

Native Instruments' Thrill offers stunning sound quality and an innovative interface that invites exploration. The recent update enhances usability with LFO movement and a favorites feature, making it a valuable tool for contemporary composers. However, some ambiguities in modulation controls and the lack of a record function for the XY Morphing Pad may hinder intuitive use. While the product promises to elevate cinematic soundtracks, its true versatility shines in ambient and avant-garde compositions, allowing for endless creative possibilities. A bit complex, Thrill demands time to master, but its richness and depth make it worth the investment.

Native Instruments - Thrill · Tech Review ⟋ RA

Native Instruments' Thrill aims to create dark, brooding atmospheres tailored for cinematic soundtracks, and it delivers on this promise with its innovative X-Y axis performance tool. However, despite its rich sound design capabilities and impressive sonic variety, the interface can be confusing, especially for newcomers. While it offers great versatility for different productions, some users may find it overwhelming due to its complexity and the steep learning curve involved. The review acknowledges its strengths in creating cinematic tension but suggests that users who prefer simpler, more straightforward tools might feel lost in Thrill's extensive features. Ultimately, while Thrill is a powerful instrument for specific genres, it may not suit everyone’s workflow or creative style.

"When Thrill came out, I was really blown away. As a sound designer, these are sounds that I have to create from scratch all the time, but what’s really amazing about Thrill is that it’s continuous, which might sound stupid, but it’s really difficult to generate synthesis and sample layers and create clustering or droning that stays constant."
