Critic Reviews

Native Instruments The Giant review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Native Instruments The Giant offers a unique take on piano sampling, capturing the essence of the massive Klavins Model 370i. It excels with its Cinematic version, delivering a rich array of experimental sounds and a convolution engine that enhances tonal possibilities. The Normal version, however, lacks inspiration and playability compared to competitors like Piano In Blue. For those seeking adventurous sound design, The Giant's Cinematic mode is worth the investment, while traditionalists may find the Normal option somewhat strident. Overall, it's a compelling addition for creative minds looking for something distinct.

Native Instruments' The Giant is aptly named, delivering a colossal piano experience that impresses with its dynamic tonal range and rich, realistic sound. This Kontakt instrument excels in both its standard and Cinematic versions, offering everything from warm, mellow tones to bright, impactful sounds, thanks to its versatile controls. Users can fine-tune their sound with detailed EQ, compression, and convolution reverb options, enhancing the already impressive realism with added noise and resonance controls. While its size might seem daunting, the ease of use and quality of presets make it a must-have for both casual and professional musicians seeking expressive piano sounds. However, the weighty expectations might overwhelm beginners without a knack for sound design.

Native Instruments The Giant piano library review

soundsandgear.com

Native Instruments' The Giant is a versatile piano library for Kontakt, capturing the grandeur of the Klavins Piano Model 370i. It offers a rich, smooth sound with the ability to shift from bright to mellow tones via intuitive controls. The inclusion of a "dark" version enhances its appeal for cinematic and experimental uses, effectively making it two instruments in one. While some might find the piano market saturated, The Giant stands out with its sound design capabilities, making it a compelling choice for those seeking a unique piano sound. Overall, it's a creative library worth considering, especially if you're looking for something different from standard piano offerings.

The Giant Review - MusicTech

musictech.com

The Giant by Native Instruments offers a uniquely captivating piano experience, merging the percussive qualities of an upright with the depth of a grand. While it's not your go-to for conventional piano sounds, its distinctive Klavins Model 370i sampling shines with a rich bass and an intriguing sharpness. The Cinematic Effects instrument adds versatility, perfect for ambient to bold soundscapes. The interface is user-friendly yet detailed, allowing deep customization. Despite strong competition from other piano libraries, The Giant stands out with its singular sound and flexibility. An impressive instrument for those seeking something truly different. 8/10

amazing versatility and sound quality for $100

AMAZING piano for Kontakt 5. It's super crisp, you can alter the timbre, envelope, release and velocity of the keys very easily and intuitively. The FX version of it is also stellar, as it allows you to create really weird sounds out of it. Definitely worth 100$

My go-to piano

Seriously, this thing can be fragile if you want, but it can also be booming and huge. Definitely recommend.

affordable piano realism for all your needs

I love The Giant! It sounds just like a real piano but is a lot less expensive. I currently use this for all my piano needs.

danielherrera

Colossal Piano!

With good reason it is the giant, it is not only the biggest but it really sounds like a colossus! with a very interesting alter ego.
