I remember doing live sound for a band that had one of these. It sounded like shit, even through a fender amp, until I got it in the mix at the end of sound check....

Tony Banks' Roland Rhodes MK 80 can be spotted under the Roland JD800, at 3:05.
Underneath his DX7 sits Herbie's Roland Rhodes MK 80 as shown in this image.

A VINCE WELNICK/BRENT MYDLAND RHODES ELECTRONIC KEYBOARD USED IN THE GRATEFUL DEAD RECORDING STUDIO, 1990S-2000S Model MK-80, serial number ZA93630; used by Welnick in The Grateful Dead studio to record their 1991 album "Infrared Roses." Welnick also played the Rhodes on the 1996 album "Second Sight" by the group Second Sight, founded by Grateful Dead associate, Bob Bralove, which also featured Garcia and Weir playing on a couple of tracks. 20 x 53 x 4in Note a piè di pagina "This keyboard was also owned and played by Brent Mydland. It lived in a drawer at our house and Vince would pull out the drawer and play this keyboard right into his sound system in order to learn Grateful Dead songs." -Lori Welnick?
On his own website's equipment section, Kawai lists a "Roland MK-80", which is a glorious digital Rhodes-branded Roland stage piano from 1989. Kawai still uses this vintage beast as his main midi controller, as seen throughout this 2025 feature he did for Aruturia.
In this photo, Sergey Kuryokhin is seen with the back side of a Rhodes MK-80 digital piano. The instrument is identifiable by its rear-panel design and the clearly visible “Rhodes” marking on the back of the unit.
Spotted at 0:39 in the Yoad Nevo studio tour with Sonic State, hiding behind the Yamaha CS70M.
At 44:18 you can see the Rhodes logo displayed proudly on the panel of the keyboard and at 3:27 you can see the pitch/mod joystick on the left of the keyboard that was featured on these keyboards which Roland built under the Rhodes name. I didn't even know this unholy amalgam existed.
