Critic Reviews

Roland FP-30 Review; Amazing Piano - Piano Tone

pianotone.ca

The Roland FP-30 shines as a beginner-friendly digital piano with its realistic PHA-4 key action and impressive Supernatural Sound Modeling, providing a rich, immersive playing experience. Its robust build and quality sound make it a standout in its price range. However, its lack of dedicated line outs and limited onboard control options may hinder live performance adaptability. While the Yamaha P-125 offers greater connectivity and a brighter sound profile, the FP-30's deeper tones and superior key feel make it a compelling choice for those prioritizing authentic touch and sound quality. Overall, a strong contender for those seeking a high-quality, affordable digital piano.

Roland FP-30 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Roland FP-30 impresses with its expressive, grand piano sounds and ergonomic action, making it a top pick for both home and gig use. Its robust Bluetooth MIDI connectivity and range of features, such as a metronome and USB connectivity, add to its appeal. However, the lack of a visual display and quarter-inch outputs, along with a complex sound selection process, might deter users needing quick, on-the-fly adjustments. Overall, a fantastic, authentic-sounding digital piano priced at $699.

Roland FP-30 review: Powerful, Compact, Innovative (2021)

pianodreamers.com

The Roland FP-30 packs a punch for its price, offering an excellent blend of features and sound quality. Its PHA-4 keyboard action with escapement and ivory-feel keys provides a realistic playing feel, while the SuperNATURAL sound engine delivers rich, dynamic tones. Bluetooth MIDI connectivity and the ability to play MIDI/WAV files from a USB add versatility. However, the lack of line-out jacks and limited sound customization might deter some. Despite these minor setbacks, its portability and powerful onboard speakers make it a top choice for both home and stage use.

All I'll ever need.

Before my grandfather bought me this, I was using a 61-key Casio. I thought the Casio was fine, just a little unnatural sounding whenever I recorded or plugged my headphones in and lacking in a few keys. I never minded because I wasn't really thinking of doing music professionally, it's a lovely hobby for me.

Then we went to the store where he told me to buy specifically a Roland keyboard, and was amazed by how it felt. I loved how I had to apply more pressure so it controlled the amount of mistakes I was going to make (I play some songs relatively angrily so a light touch on my step-father's Casio was kind of like the end of the world-- it feels a lot like playing a grand piano. I really took in how the sound was so much more organic than any other keyboard I've played (Also, thank God, it has all the keys!). I would have been extremely satisfied with just the FP-10, but my grandfather insisted on this. I believe any one of the keyboards in the FP series is the only one you'll ever need.
