Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XII Review – Guitars For Idiots

guitarsforidiots.com

The Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XII delivers a delightful playing experience, boasting a fun factor and comfortable design that make it a joy to use. While the Alnico single-coil pickups may not be perfect, they provide a bright and clean tone ideal for various effects. However, the sound lacks the clarity you'd find in pricier models like a Rickenbacker. Still, this guitar shines as an affordable option for both beginners and pros, making it a versatile addition to any setup. A pickup upgrade could elevate its performance further, but as it stands, it’s a solid choice worth considering.

Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XII Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XII delivers a fantastic blend of comfort and quality at a budget-friendly price. Its attractive design and versatile sounds, particularly from the combined-pickup settings, are standout features. However, players may find the pickups lacking in headroom and the tuners feeling imprecise, which could hinder performance. Nonetheless, for the accessible price of $449, this guitar stands as a solid choice for those seeking a unique 12-string experience.

Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XII review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Squier's Paranormal Jazzmaster XII offers an impressive blend of affordability and quality, delivering a unique 12-string jangle that elevates any track. With stunning build quality and a solid feel, it's a delight to play, despite its slight neck heaviness and subpar tuners. While some may yearn for more finish options, these minor flaws are overshadowed by its vibrant tone and stellar performance. Perfect for both studio work and live settings, this guitar exemplifies Squier's ability to craft exceptional instruments without breaking the bank.

Phenomenal sound for the price!

So I don’t have it YET but I’m buying a used one for just under $400 next weekend with some Christmas money and I’ve already played it, so it’s kinda like I already one!

That said, it plays and sounds GREAT! Beatles, Zeppelin, Rush, Beach Boys, Tom Petty, Eagles, Byrds, Masayoshi Takanaka, power pop, new wave… super versatile and sounds great for a Squier!

Like I said, it feels great, too! Not TOO heavy, doesn’t dive terribly in any direction, the neck feels great (love that gloss finish), great accessibility on the fretboard (might be a bit narrow for those who haven’t played a 12 string before)…

But the biggest crown jewel is its price. A new one costs just over $500, which is phenomenal for an electric 12 string.

Really, my only problem is that tuning is kind of a pain, but that’s to be expected from a 12 string.
