Steinway & Sons Model D Concert Grand Piano review on msteinert.com

msteinert.com

The Steinway & Sons Model D Concert Grand Piano is celebrated for its powerful bass and spine-tingling timbre, making it a favorite among professional pianists and institutions alike. Its ability to project sound effortlessly in large concert halls is unmatched, which explains its popularity with prestigious venues and educational institutions. However, this grandeur comes with a significant price tag, making it less accessible for personal use unless you're a dedicated professional or an institution. If budget and space aren't constraints, the Model D stands as an unparalleled choice for those seeking an exceptional musical instrument.

My baee????????

Although I do not own one myself, I go to my mom's friends house to play his. I would say that about half of the melodies I write come from the Steinway! It's great for composing music in general!

Deadmau5 has this grand piano retrofit with some epic midi thing that allows him to send MIDI out from his computer into the Steinway and then has a mic hooked up to it going through some reverb then back into the interface. Boom, MIDI controlled Steinway FTW.

Joel mentions in this article that the concert grand piano is a Model D that is autographed by both Harry Connick Jr. and Josh Groban.

In 1972-1973, Freddie Mercury used the Steinway & Sons Model D Concert Grand Piano at Trident Studios. This was the studio's house piano, likely utilized during recording sessions. A notable photo from the Marquee Club shows a white piano, potentially the Bechstein used by Mercury later for "Bohemian Rhapsody." This connection is plausible due to a rental arrangement the club reportedly had with Jacques Samuel, which included the white Bechstein.
