Introducing the Tech 21 Sansamp RBI Rackmount Bass Tube Amp Emulator, a true game-changer in the world of bass amplification. This rackmount SansAmp offers a wide spectrum of classic and modern bass amp tones, even the hard-pushing overdriven tones that you'd typically need a plethora of devices to achieve. It's like having a whole fleet of bass amp rigs in a single, convenient rack space.

This versatile emulator is designed with familiar controls including Drive, Presence, Blend, and active Bass and Treble controls. The Drive control adjusts the overall amount of gain and overdrive, while the Presence brings out the upper harmonic content and attack. The Blend control lets you mix the direct instrument signal with the SansAmp Tube Amplifier Emulation circuitry. The active Bass and Treble controls allow for +/-12dB cuts or boosts.

My go to for tracking bass!

Recommended by Greg Wells and he wasn't lying! This things sounds great. You can get some beautiful tones out of it. Some of the best bass tones I have ever recorded have come from this unit. Fantastic signal to noise ratio, way cleaner that my 1073. Awesome on guitar too!!

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Turn up the drive till it starts growling nicely and blend in to taste. Ready to go!

Best $300.00 I've ever spent.

I've recently switched over to the VT-RM, but still highly recommend the RBI. I've used the RBI for over 15 years and must say.......it's probably the best $300.00 I've ever spent on a piece of bass gear. I -GREATLY- prefer the rackmount over the pedal, to each their own, right? I'm old school, but have used 2 RBI's in the studio. Bass to RBI to board and had great results bypassing the traditional amp and cabinet route. IMO, everyone should own one. That's not saying you'll use it full time, but you'll find it handy more often than you might think.......

Great Bass Preamp

Being a big fan of the Bass Driver pedal, I knew I wanted to get the rackmount version of it to use in my live rig and see how it worked out. I must confess: I love this thing! It’s basically everything that the regular BD has but with more options for tonal variety. It’s great to use for live shows and for in-studio work as well. It brings a lot more character to my sound with that tube-like warmth while I’m doing any kind of recording. It’s all around a great addition to any bass rig, and I encourage those who haven’t already to check it out yourself and see how it works for you!

Fantastic Bass Tube Amp Emulator

The RBI Bass Driver provides the bulk of my tone in my current live/studio setup. I currently run this directly into an old MosValve power amp and it really wails. There's a selection of suggested presets to choose from, some of my favourites being the Fat Tube, Bassman, and SVT - the emulation of the Ampeg SVT's iconic sound is one of the main reasons I picked this up, and in my opinion it comes very close to delivering the same authentic tone, but it's not perfect. You can of course dial in whatever tone sounds good to your ears. In comparison to the pedal version, the RBI allows you to explore a wider range of tones; this is great for crafting unique sounds, but it's not as user-friendly as the pedal, which has less control options, yet almost impossible to get a bad sounding tone from. Overall, this is a versatile piece of gear, and has replaced a conventional amplifier in my set up, and I would recommend it over the pedal version.
