This plugin excels in real-time processing, delivering a seamless experience whether you're working on vocals, solos, or any instrument that needs room to breathe. The intuitive interface features a large, centered knob for easy control over the reduction applied, and additional parameters for those who wish to dive deeper into customization.

TrackSpacer's versatility is further enhanced with features like the Pan control, which allows you to decide where the effect should apply within a stereo field, and Mid/Side mode for targeted frequency carving. The Attack/Release settings provide further flexibility, enabling you to tailor the plugin's responsiveness to suit the mood and dynamics of your track.

Use cases and applications

  • Ideal for creating space for vocals in submix busses without manually cutting frequencies, especially useful in fast-paced creative workflows.

Review: Trackspacer 2 from Wavesfactory | Audio Plugin Guy

audiopluginguy.com

Wavesfactory's Trackspacer 2 is a must-have for mixers seeking subtlety and clarity. This plugin stands out with its unique ability to dynamically EQ specific frequencies, providing transparent space in dense mixes. Perfect for vocals or any element needing prominence, it offers intuitive controls and advanced features like Mid/Side mode. While mostly praised, its innovative approach may not suit those favoring traditional sidechain techniques. Overall, Trackspacer is an essential tool for anyone aiming to enhance mix clarity without compromising the original sound.

Wavesfactory: TrackSpacer plug-in | Tape Op Magazine | Longform candid interviews with music producers and audio engineers covering mixing, mastering, recording and music production.

tapeop.com

Wavesfactory's TrackSpacer is a compelling tool for mixing, offering a unique reverse EQ process that intelligently clears space in the mix. Its multi-band ducking across 32 frequency slices distinguishes it from typical compressors. The plug-in is user-friendly, with advanced controls for nuanced adjustments, including M/S operation and high/low-pass filters. While it's easy to overuse due to its effectiveness, careful application can yield impressive results, such as enhancing vocal clarity without overpowering other elements. However, as with any powerful tool, a learning curve exists to avoid over-subtraction that may thin out certain tracks. At a budget-friendly €59, TrackSpacer is a valuable asset for those seeking greater interaction within their mix, though mindful usage is advised to maintain balance.

Trackspacer has saved my mixes.

I tend to run into phasing issues a lot in my mixes, but setting Trackspacer to 5/10% seems to instantly solve my problems.

I got there in the end

I tried the demo of trackspacer a few years ago, and was really happy with what it did, and bought the full version, but it didn't work. The settings were the same as the demo, so I couldn't understand it. Wavesfactory were great and after I reluctantly asked for a refund, they were really cool about it. A few years later and it just bugged me because I was constantly reading others talking about how great it was, so I tried it again, but this time it works the way it's supposed to, and it's such a great tool. It uses an intelligent 32 band EQ to sidechain, so It would take a long time to do what it does with dynamic EQ and just set up 32 individual bands for starters, before you even talk about sidechaining, so for me, it makes dynamic EQ pretty redundant in a lot of instances. This will get used on every track from now on.

Miles Better than standard Dynamic EQing!

I have owned this product since April, and i must say, wavesfactory completely knocked it out of the ball park. Perfect for producers of Bass Music who need a solution to the endless battle of the fighting kick and sub.

It's something different that works!

Track spacer uses freq. to make a space for an instrument. Great for bass and kick or getting a vocal or instrument to sit in the mix.

New plug-in

After seeing dBridge and Break mentioning this and explaining how they use it, then seeing a few other producers I like mention it, decided to test it out for myself.

In this video, Speaker Honey uses Trackspacer to let the kickdrum shine through by ducking certain low end frequencies of the bass. By the looks of it, it does so by acting as a sidechain EQ. Similar, yet also different, plugins would be the Waves F6 or the Ozone Dynamic EQ, and the effect can be achieved by adjusting threshold and range (decrease in volume), ducking the bass when the kick hits. Yet, perhaps there is more magic to the plugin, other than just sidechain EQing.
