Description

The Crossover Bass by Zeta

The Zeta Crossover Bass is best classified as a discontinued / vintage electric upright bass, commonly found only on used marketplaces like Reverb and occasionally eBay. Originally developed in the U.S. (with early versions tied to Gibson-era production), it blends the feel of an upright bass with the playability and scale of an electric bass. The slim solid-body “crossover” design allows it to be played both upright and like a strapped instrument, making it especially appealing for doubling bassists. It features an active preamp with tone controls and piezo-based pickup system for a clear, articulate sound suited to jazz, fusion, and modern styles. Its lightweight body and adjustable endpin system simulate upright ergonomics while remaining portable. Today, it’s considered a niche but respected instrument among electric upright bass players due to its unique hybrid design and relative rarity.

Very Versatile Bass

This bass works out perfectly for a band I'm in now. I've used it both strapped on like a regular electric bass and on it's endpin as an upright. It's a 34" scale length so keep that in mind. It make it perfect for transitioning between electric and upright. The bass is made to a super high standard. The quality and workmanship are amazing.
