For his main gain tone for My Chem, Frank has a Marshall super lead. The amp was modded to have the famed dookie mod in it. The Dookie Mod is a gain mod that was made famous by Billie Joe of Green Day.

At 8:40, Frank says "currently for my main tone...it is a Orange Thunderverb 200 watt, which I overdrive with a Blues Driver."

If you look at the number/layout of the knobs, you'll see it's absolutely a 900, rather than an 800 or a 2000. As for whether it's a 900 4100 vs a 4500... that's just me guessing by the sound of a 100w over a 50w. But it's definitely a JCM 900 he's playing.

This was one of my two Orange 4 X 12 cabinets used throughout the touring cycle of Danger Days for My Chem. They appeared on every stage and TV appearance during that time. I then repainted both cabs for touring with the Cellabration, and the Patience and they appeared on every stage yet again." - Frank

"I found this 4x12 cabinet in the window of a vintage guitar store in NJ while having a walk with my wife. I bought it to match the Sound City 120 Head that I purchased from a friend in England earlier that year. Such a solid cab, built like an absolute tank, constructed very well, and louder than god's revolver. Together, this rig is the loudest amp I have ever played and or heard in my entire life. WARNING: Please be careful, with a great amp like this comes great responsibility. You will hurt yourself and others if you turn it all the way up, in a wonderful ripping sort of way." - Frank

Serial: 7306337 This cab has been well-loved over the years and has the cosmetic wear to prove it—scuffs, tolex peeling, grill cloth tears and discoloration. The Sound City logo on the grill cloth is slightly bent inwards. The top output jack is slightly bent but still works. Wheels function as intended. Sticker on back is torn up. Four 12" 160w 16Ω speakers. Overall, this thing sounds great and boasts a lot of mojo.

In this Instagram post, Frank Iero has a photo of a custom built OR-120 pre amp.

hey frendz, just want to send a long overdue shout out and thank you’s to @jessupamps for sending me this OR-120 pre amp and @black35guitars & @solodallas for helping me out with their shaffer tower replica. I love using these two in combination on home recording/demoing especially. They’ve really helped with my recovery by bringing life to my guitar tones and they tend to get along really well with my digital recording setup. I’ve even included the @solodallas pedal onto my pedal board for these upcoming live shows.

From the website of Jessup Amps, the creator of the custom amp:

This is the exact circuit found in the Orange or-120 and retains the same tonal characteristics as the original Orange pre amp

In this 2023 Reverb listing from The Official Frank Lero of My Chemical Romance Reverb Shop, a Univox U65RN is listed with the following quote from Frank:

"I love smaller combo amps, they record so well and each one is a little bit different and quirky in its own way. If I’m out on the road and I stumble across one that I’ve never seen before, I simply have to grab it because you never know which one is gonna be pure studio magick. These unfortunately fall under the 'wish I could keep them all, but probably best to pass along the magick while I’m around to do so' category." - Frank

Ok long-winded story… This 4-input head was originally used for the PA at the restaurant/speakeasy/jazz club my grandfather played at every single weekend of my young life called the Marroe Inn in Trenton, NJ. In fact my actual first gig ever was sitting in on drums with his band at the Marroe when I was about 9 or 10 while my grandfather got up to sing a few Sinatra songs. Anyway after they retired this equipment and got a new setup at the Marroe, my grandfather asked if he could give it to me, his music obsessed grandson, because I was starting to play guitar and was in the need of some equipment. So this is became my very first guitar head. Rad right?" - Frank

This was my dad’s PA setup when he was touring in the 70’s-80’s and then was gifted to me when I became a teenager and had a band and needed a PA to rehearse in my mom’s basement. In fact he still owns and uses the speakers for his rehearsals with his bands to this day." - Frank
