Tom Verlaine's Gear
The guitar most frequently associated with Tom Verlaine is the Fender Jazzmaster. Up until the mid to late-1970s, Fender Jazzmasters and Jaguars were seen as exclusively for surf music. During and after Television's initial run, the Jazzmaster gradually became something of an icon for underground music. Beginning at 00:08 Verlaine can been seen with a three-color sunburst Jazzmaster with a brown shell pickguard and stock Jazzmaster pickups.
Most known for his use of Jazzmasters and Jaguars. His Jaguar seems to have lipstick pickups.
In this image from a Television performance in 2007, we see Verlaine onstage with an AC-30 (which he's taken to using at the band's reunion shows since the early 90s).
In this image from a live performance by Television in 2007, we see Verlaine with his 70's Stratocaster which has been modified with lipstick pickups of unknown origin.
In this image, we see Verlaine's Overdrive Special in the background (one has to look somewhat closely to see the "SPECIAL" across the faceplate).
In this image of Verlaine performing with Television in the late 1970s, his HD-130 can be seen behind him onstage.
Here, Verlaine can be seen using this Danelectro 59 DC guitar with a Bigsby style Tremolo.
Clear as day. Playing a Dan Armstrong Plexi Glass
Tom Verlaine is pictured playing a Gibson Les Paul Goldtop during Television's performance at CBGBs in New York in 1975, as highlighted in The Guardian.
On the picture, Verlaine can be seen playing with his band Television, in their early days, back when Richard Hell was still in the band. Also, Richard Lloyd said in a quote from his website: "We used to use Fender Super Reverbs. Black face with 4 ten inch Jensens. We both had those for years. Then for some reason we switched to the Music Man equivalent".
Tom Verlaine is listed as a user of the Mastery Bridge on the official Mastery Bridge website.
