Critic Reviews

Audient iD44

soundonsound.com

The Audient iD44 delivers stellar audio performance with impressive clarity and low noise, perfect for both project studios and mobile setups. While its robust feature set enhances usability, the lack of built-in EQ and the cumbersome phantom power switch-on transients can be a drawback. Still, the companion iD Mixer app simplifies monitoring and cue mixing, making it a solid choice for serious musicians. Overall, the iD44 strikes a fine balance between functionality and audio quality, justifying its price point.

Audient: iD44 Interface | Tape Op Magazine | Longform candid interviews with music producers and audio engineers covering mixing, mastering, recording and music production.

tapeop.com

The Audient iD44 offers an impressive array of features, including high-quality preamps and superior AD/DA conversion, making it a solid choice for professional-level recordings. Its analog-sounding character and flexible routing options cater to both novice and seasoned engineers. While the iD mixer software is intuitive and useful, it lacks a built-in talkback mic, which may frustrate some users. Additionally, although the sound is generally smooth and pleasing, those seeking a more colored tone might find it somewhat bland. Overall, the iD44 is a well-rounded interface, striking a balance between performance and price, but it's not without its quirks.

Best Sounding Interface

The preamps sound very warm and have slight warm analog coloring to them. The DI input for guitar is extremely useful and the build quality is very solid. Exceptional converters used on much more expensive units.
