Build quality
-
The Audient iD14 is praised for its superior build quality, with users noting its robustness compared to the Behringer UMC204HD.
Source
Features and functionality
-
The iD14's ADAT input allows for an expansion of up to 4 more 96 kHz inputs, a feature lacking in the UMC204HD.
Source -
The JFET input is noted as a minor feature; the iD14 mkII's mic and line inputs, as well as output quality, are emphasized as key strengths.
Source -
The iD14 MKII preamps are clean, allowing high gain settings without a booster, suitable for mics like the SM7B in untreated spaces.
Source -
The iD14 MKII's gain capabilities negate the need for a CloudLifter unless the mic is used for streaming or very quiet sources.
Source
User experience
-
Some users experience "pops and cracks" with the Behringer, while the Audient delivers clear sound, described as "someone singing in the room."
Source -
The iD14 mkII may stutter and crackle when sharing USB connections with other devices, unlike Maschine MK3's sound card, which is less sensitive to shared connections.
Source -
Users with quiet vocal styles need to increase gain significantly; the Audient handles this well without introducing noise.

Use cases and applications
-
For users experiencing audio issues like clicks and pops, switching to the Audient resolves these problems and enhances overall sound quality.
Source -
The iD14 MKII paired with an SM7B can handle softer vocal styles like Deftones and Breaking Benjamin, with proper mic technique minimizing room noise.
Source -
Dynamic microphones like the SM7B are recommended for untreated rooms due to their proximity effect, reducing room noise when used up close.
Source
Software and compatibility
-
Some Windows users experience issues with the iD14 mkII's ASIO buffer resetting to 512 samples, requiring multiple reconnects to adjust settings.

Awesome preamps, but not very linux friendly
Too much latency on monitoring. Does not have hardware based direct monitoring. Is USB class compliant though, and the pres are very good. I switched to an SSL 2 since I use linux.

Sturdy build and perfect for my small bedroom studio
I like the fact that it's sturdy and can take a beating, and also the ID button can control anything that you want choosing from a number of options such as Dim, Mono, Mono+Polarity, and Scroll Control. I use Mono because that is more useful than scroll control for the genre of music that I produce, where Mono Compatability is essential.

Amazing
Love the sound you get straight out of it, easy to listen to and translate well
