Excellent, more affordable option for that distinctive Alembic bass sound
Great medium-scale active bass with the distinctive, signature Alembic sound. Craftsmanship is exemplary. Range of tones is broad, making these basses great for a traditional bass part in a supportive role or to be used as a lead or solo instrument.

After retiring his Rickenbacker 4001 Burton used a number of high-end basses.
Among these was a Black Alembic Spoiler Bass he bought and used breifly in about 1983-1985, This bass probably wasn’t used on the recording of the "Ride The Lightning" album.
This bass was later stolen around 1984-1985.
This bass has never been found, so if you or someone you know owns a Black '83-'85 Spoiler be sure to look for a large chip in the back finish up around the side of the Peghead as it might have belonged to Burton.
Prince played an Alembic Spoiler bass live and in the studio in the mid to late 1980s. source The photo is of Prince playing Brownmark's Alembic during the Purple Rain tour.
Jason used an Alembic Spoiler from 1989 up until he switched to Sadowsky in 1996-97. I believe he used one during the San Diego 1992 show from Live Sh*it: Binge & Purge, and it is featured prominently throughout the show and during his bass solo. I do not believe he used one for studio work.
In this photo, we can see Steele playing an Alembic Spoiler Bass and was used for many of carnivores albums recording ,live shows and a in some type o live shows decked out in all black with green tape over the pickups classic Pete haha,
Pete has most likely had multiple ALEMBICS throughout the years,a birch top ,a burl top ,a bubinga top which you see on the live videos up ,all black(which was most likely one of his other ALEMBICS repainted), some of these are photos you can find out there in a weird sketchy photo album I had to sign up for
early 80's alembic econo model (spoiler?) bass pickup failed when I got it so I glued two duncan early active j ones together, sawed half the headstock off and had bubba paint it that "krylon" green has a james worthy signature I got after he got his third ring plays and sounds pretty shitty though got this one in pedro
Phil Lesh uses an Alembic Spoiler Bass, as detailed on Alembic's official Signature Standard and Deluxe Basses page.
In this video, at around 25:30, you can see Kira playing her Alembic Spoiler during a concert in 1984.
Brownmark used an Alembic Spoiler with Prince on the Purple Rain and Parade tours. The Spoiler had a built interface for controlling a Roland synth, possibly a GR-77B.
