The shop at which I bought my monitors threw these in for free as well; useful for getting the best out of my monitors and not shaking the house down too.

Keeps the vibrations from traveling through the desk and into the walls. Worth the money.
I expected much from these pads, but I can't hear any difference. Also I couldn't make proper A/B tests in my bedroom. I keep them just in case.

I bought it as an impression, not because of the urgent need. And they are some kind of hard sponge, so nothing special. They are doing a good job, but you could buy the sponge, and cut the form you want yourself.
