You gotta know what you are getting into.

So I've owned 4 Chibson's, and each one from a QC standpoint vastly differ from one to another. Out of the box, Chibson's have poor quality hardware and electronics. The fretwork can differ shop to shop. I received two that needed a fret level/crown and polish pretty much immediately. My latest two actually came with stainless steel frets and rolled/rounded off frets (Not the norm btw). So out of the gate you will probably have a %50 probability of some work being done. The electronics again, are made from the cheapest possible parts, the pickups are straight up bad and at worst deceiving. I had one that came with P90's but inside the casing weren't p90 pickups, they were single coil strat pickups in P90 housing. First one came in with covered "humbuckers" but were stupid light, breaking it open showcased what was going on, it was again a strat style pickup in Humbucker housing. Hardware is cheap and you can tell (especially with the tuners). You get what you pay for but I am giving it three stars because if you know what you are getting into, you can pick these things up to be AMAZING mod platforms/project guitars. The woods used and general specs are usually as advertised (or a close approximation) , also each Chibson I got came with a bone nut which is a nice surprise, and the nuts from the ones I've received have been cut really well. Either roll up your sleeves and get some good old elbow grease in on the frets, or Take it to a luthier for a fret level/crown. Throw some new pickups and electronics to taste and upgraded hardware, after that a simple setup will turn your Chibson into a real monster of an instrument and will still be still cheaper alternative than a standard Epiphone. Again, you just have to know what you are getting into, I really cannot stress this enough.

Side Note: The headstock Logo and headstock shape are often times SUPER Sus, I always buy a high quality paint pen from Michaels and black out the headstock as well as scratch out the fake serial numbers on the back of the headstock. I let folks know straight up this is a Chinese copy and personally I think it's something everyone should consider if your plan is to play this kind of guitar out in the wild.
