Description

The GCS-16-1 Hollow-Body Jazz-Box by Comins.

The GCS-16-1 is a true archtop electric guitar built with a classic jazz-box ethos: wide 16" hollow-body construction for lots of air and resonance , giving it the “gir th of tone” that many jazz and fingerstyle players love. Even though the body is large, the guitar remains surprisingly comfortable and responsive: the moderate body depth and careful build make it easy to handle for long sessions, whether seated or standing. Plugged in, the single custom-wound humbucker (by Kent Armstrong) delivers a warm, round, balanced tone , smooth and full, with enough clarity and definition to cut through clean or slightly overdriven settings. Because it’s part of the craftsman-oriented “Guitar Craft Series” by Bill Comins, each instrument receives thorough setup and fine-tuning before shipping , so it’s not only a good constructor but also ready to play straight out of the case. In short: the GCS-16-1 stands out by offering a vintage-style archtop voice with modern build quality and playability , ideal for jazz, fingerstyle, vintage-leaning blues/rock or any context where warmth, resonance and a “classic box” tone matter.
