Gibson EH-150 | Vintage Guitar® magazine

vintageguitar.com

The Gibson EH-150 is celebrated as a pioneering pre-WWII amplifier, setting design and functionality standards with its tweed cabinets and tone manipulation capabilities. The amp's historical significance is cemented by its association with electric guitar innovator Charlie Christian. While not the first in Gibson’s lineup, its evolution from a simple amplifier to one with tone control and extension speaker options marked a significant leap in guitar amplification. Despite its primitive start, the EH-150 grew into a robust, versatile amp that appealed to musicians seeking more than just increased volume. However, its older models lacked modern power and control features, which were addressed in later versions. Overall, the EH-150 remains a beloved piece of vintage gear history.
