Mapex Armory Review: An Edge On The Competition | DRUM! Magazine

drummagazine.com

Mapex's Armory 6-Piece Studioease Shell Pack stands out for its impressive features and beautiful finishes, including the innovative SONIClear bearing edges that enhance tuning and sustain. The kit is aesthetically pleasing with various color options and solid hardware. The Tomahawk snare is noteworthy, combining sensitivity with a robust tone. However, the lack of a tom mount on the virgin bass drum may hinder some players looking for convenience. Despite this, the overall quality and affordability make the Armory a strong contender in its class, appealing to drummers of all levels.

Great, sometimes the sizes are strange.

The Mapex Studioease 6-Pieces Shell Pack is a great choice for any drummer. The heads that come with it are a great starter. You can upgrade and get new ones, whatever! The stock resonant heads are really good too. The sizes are fine with me, but I do wish that there were more options. I’m happy with what I have now. My dream drum sizes are: 13” rack tom, 16” floor tom, 18” floor tom and MAYBE an extra floor tom that’s 17”. Don’t even know if Mapex makes 18” floor toms. I could be wrong about a lot of this though.

Best sounding semi-professional drum set

The shell pack comes with two rack toms (10×8 and 12×9), two floor toms (14×14 and 16×16) and the Mapex Tomahawk snare drum (14×5,5). The tom holders are included (TH800).

The drums are relatively easy to mount and tune and they look amazing! They come with Remo UT drumheads and, if changed, they sound even better. I was new to the Mapex world but this drum set really deserves a chance. I believe it is the best looking and sounding semi-professional drum set that you can get without spending a lot of money.
