Critic Reviews

DW Performance Series Review: Drum Kit | DRUM! Magazine

drummagazine.com

The DW Performance Series drum kit offers a compelling balance of high-quality features and affordability. Designed for drummers who crave the DW brand without the Collector's series price tag, this kit delivers solid craftsmanship with North American maple shells and innovative HVX shell technology. The sound is crisp and resonant, particularly the open tones of the toms. While the tuning process may be slightly more time-consuming due to the True-Pitch tension screws, the overall sound quality justifies the effort. The hardware is robust and professional-grade, yet lightweight enough for gigging drummers. Although not cheap, the Performance series provides excellent value for those seeking a professional-grade kit. However, the lack of internal mic placement on the bass drum head and the limited finish options for matching the natural snare could be drawbacks for some. Overall, it's a smart choice for serious drummers on a budget.

DW Performance Series drum kit review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The DW Performance Series drum kit successfully brings DW's high-end craftsmanship to a more accessible price point without compromising on quality. With robust shells and components, this kit delivers exceptional sound across various settings. The distinctive design maintains DW's signature style, making it a worthy investment for serious musicians. However, the prestige of the DW brand comes at a cost, as even these production drums are far from cheap. Overall, the Performance Series offers a professional-grade experience that justifies its price, making it an excellent choice for discerning drummers.

Amazing!

This kit is incredible! The sound is so pure, and also very customizable due to your choice of heads. I am using Remo's Emperors on top and Ambassadors on the bottom so I can get a lot of tone from the shells, but still having a decent durability from the heads.

Great kit!
