Description
The Pearl Reference Pure series is a masterclass in drum craftsmanship, offering a lightweight yet powerful incarnation of the iconic Reference series. Designed for drummers who refuse to compromise on sound and performance, these drums are engineered with Superior Shell Technology for a harmonious blend of tone, resonance, and strength. Each drum in the series is crafted from a unique combination of wood plies, tailored to deliver optimal sound. The 10" tom features a 2-ply birch/4-ply maple shell for an articulate cut and attack, while the 12" tom is composed entirely of maple, offering a smooth, balanced tone. The 16" tom and kick drum incorporate mahogany and maple layers to boost low-frequency richness.
Beyond the shells, Pearl's attention to detail extends to the hardware. Equipped with low-mass STL Tube Lugs and Fat Tone Hoops, these drums maximize resonance and provide exceptional strength and rigidity. The ultra-lightweight OptiMount Suspension System ensures that the toms are mounted with zero shell contact, preserving their vibrant sound. Whether you're laying down grooves in the studio or delivering electrifying performances on stage, the Pearl Reference Pure series is designed to elevate your drumming experience to new heights.
Key Features:
- Optimized shell composition for each drum type

They’ve always made drums for me to my specs. I like to incorporate art into my motif.” For this current kit, Torres wanted to go black on black, so he and his drum tech, Joe “JD” Dorosz, special ordered nickel-plated hardware. When the shells were delivered from Japan, they were sent straight to drummer/artist Prairie Prince, who collaborated with Tico on the design. JD assembled the drums with the nickelplated hardware.
Dennis Chambers in this video tries out the new reference pure drumset by pearl.
Gabe Helguera said in a video titled "MY BRAND NEW DRUM SET!! (Endorsement Reveal!)" at 0:32, that he signed with a drum company and got a new kit. He then revealed at the 2:08 mark that the kit he got was a Pearl Reference Pure, and the company he signed with was Pearl.
