Another forgotten oldie but goodie

Selmer may be celebrated for its saxophones (they used to make the "holy grail" of all saxes, the Selmer Mark VI), but they made great amps too. The Treble & Bass 50SV model that I have is from the early 70s, PTP construction, built in England with great components and tidy solder work. It is the last version of that model. Granted, it's ugly! But if you're familiar with the awesome crunch of a JTM45, this amp will please you to no end. It's got its own flavor going on, but you can get a very close rendering of the tones on AC/DC's first albums (High Voltage, Let There Be Rock). The crunchy tones you can get from this amp are simply out of this world. The Bass channel is super bassy and the Treble channel is super trebly, which is a common complaint. Thus, most people bridge them together. I just use it with the bass channel, plugged into a very trebly cabinet to balance things out. I love it. Please try one if you can, you'll be surprised this is not more famous than it is.

I forgot to add the amp has a built-in effects loop, stock!

my best friend has one of these... compared to previous versions the innards are really strangely laid out.... very annoying to service

That's true, for instance you have to take down the front plate with all the controls in order to have access to the filter caps and replace them.
