An easy DAW to learn

Acid is great for doing quick loop based projects. Honestly, I know it can do more than I use it for. But it was cheap (I got it for 10 bucks on Steam) and it is fun for farting around with. I like laying down premade loops into it to get inspiration. If you want something basic and fun, this is a cool little DAW.

My Ol' Reliable DAW

Since I have always had PC's, I have been using Sonic Foundry (then Sony, then Magix) ACID to multi-track and sequence since I began producing music in the 1990's. Acid serves me well in the home studio for both quickly sketching out ideas and from proper recording takes. Personally, for polish and effects, I prefer to import the take into Cool Edit Pro. Then post-edit, I'll go back to ACID for multi-tracking. That's always been my workflow, which is odd given that Cool Edit Pro is capable of multi-tracking also. The final product is music, but we all have our own interesting habits and workflows that get us there!
