Critic Reviews

iZotope VocalSynth 2

soundonsound.com

iZotope VocalSynth 2 impresses with expanded features and a refreshed GUI, making it a significant upgrade over its predecessor. Its ability to create diverse vocal effects is a standout, with the Biovox engine adding an intriguing layer of throat and vowel modeling. The intuitive interface and new effects like chorus and ring modulator enhance usability and creative possibilities. However, the Shred feature's tendency to create clicks on sustained sounds could use a smoothing option. Overall, VocalSynth 2 excels in producing electronic vocal textures, though it may not be ideal for natural vocal adjustments.

A highly adaptable voice processing tool, iZotope VocalSynth 2 impresses with its versatile new features like the Biovox module and enhanced control via Advanced view. While the onboard synth engine remains limited, the array of reorderable effects and integration with Neutron 2 and Ozone 8 elevate its functionality. Despite minor shortcomings, it’s a powerhouse for vocal manipulation, offering substantial value to producers and sound designers.

iZotope VocalSynth 2 Review - Does It Live Up To The Hype? - AudioNewsRoom (ANR)

audionewsroom.net

iZotope’s VocalSynth 2 impresses as a significant upgrade with its improved pitch-tracking, diverse effects, and the new Biovox module. The Vocoder and Talkbox are highlights, offering rich sound and creative flexibility. While Compuvox and Polyvox lag in usability and sonic impact, the overall package excels across genres, including film. The addition of MIDI mode is particularly noteworthy. Despite minor artifacts, VocalSynth 2 stands as a strong contender in vocal processing tools, living up to its hype. A necessary upgrade for users seeking diverse vocal effects.

Helps me during vocal tracking & beyond

I used to get really self-conscious during takes for spoken vocal snippets (especially when live-streaming). Having this plugin loaded in low-latency mode allows for me to develop cool textures & track with such cool effects from the get-go. Thus I'm able to feel more confident during my takes (you know, because I think I sound cool & don't have to listen to my real voice).

I'm really thankful to have opted for Splice's rent-to-own plan for this & RX Standard. Both have stopped me from feeling my vocals are a liability to the quality of my productions! =D

Best vocoder on the market that I've used. Definitely recommend-Especially for when izotope has a sale and you can get the creative bundle for $250 rather than $200 for just the VocalSynth 2.
