Tech 21 dUg Pinnick Signature DP-3X Review - Bass Musician Magazine, The Face of Bass

bassmusicianmagazine.com

The Tech 21 dUg Pinnick Signature DP-3X multieffect is a versatile powerhouse, serving effectively as both a pre-amp and a stomp box. Its compact design and ease of use make it ideal for live performances and studio sessions alike. The two operational modes—clean and mix—offer flexibility, with the mix mode delivering a distinct, gritty sound reminiscent of dUg Pinnick's signature tone. However, while the device excels in many areas, some users may find the array of controls somewhat overwhelming at first. Overall, the DP-3X is a valuable tool for bassists seeking rich sound options in a portable format.

Tech 21 DP-3X - dUg Pinnick Signature Pedal

guitarinteractivemagazine.com

The Tech 21 DP-3X dUg Pinnick Signature Pedal delivers a powerful and versatile sound, allowing musicians to blend clean and driven tones effortlessly. While its compact design simplifies transport and setup, the review notes a desire for more control over the mid-scoop depth in mix mode. Despite this minor drawback, the pedal excels in recreating dUg Pinnick's signature sound and offers a range of tonal possibilities, making it an excellent choice for bassists looking to enhance their rig without the weight of traditional gear.

Tech 21 Dug Pinnick DP-3X review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Tech 21's DP-3X dUg Pinnick Signature multieffect delivers exceptional build quality and a signature tone that will excite fans of the King’s X bassist. Its all-analogue design offers impressive tonal versatility, featuring modes that cater to both clean and distorted sounds. With effective EQ controls and a handy tuner, it's a solid choice for both amateurs and pros. However, the high price may deter those who might achieve similar results with more budget-friendly pedals. While undeniably high-quality, the investment might feel steep for casual users. Overall, it’s a well-crafted unit that excels in function, albeit at a cost that warrants careful consideration.

Fantastic pedal with no compromise

This pedal nails Dug Pinnick's sound but is capable of so much more not only being able to create great clean sounds it has having a distortion to die for. When you kick the distortion in you do not loose any bottom end so in effect it is like running two separate amps one clean the other distorted. The pedal also has built in tuner as well as a very good compressor, it also has a headphone output as well as a XLR output to go straight to the mixing desk.

Simply amazing

This pedal is basically a simplified version of the dUg Ultrabass 1000 amp by Tech 21. In a similar manner, it's architecture consists of two channels, a clean and compressed low end, and a distorted high end that can be mixed in by pressing a footswitch. Most of the geeky stuff is hidden away and only the most essential controls are visible/accessible, and the output is already a mixed signal, so we could call this unit an "idiot proof" bi-amped solution. ...and it does the job flawlessly. It's small, practical, and it's very difficult to get a bad tone out of it if you're into modern biamped distorted bass sounds. For that particular purpose, it's far better than most of the stuff (arguably all) out there currently. Oh, and you get a tuner for free too. :D

emuemulator2

The sound is good but there's some design flaws with it.

The volume can be really inconsistent because of the mix channel's mid scoop. But it's a good sound.

Awesome pedal

This thing is great. Great clean tones, great blended distorted tones in a small package. My only criticism is that the tuner just feels a little slow compared to a TC Polytune for instance.

perodefformero

Most tuners out there are slow compared to the TC plytune. :)
