CONS

Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Voxengo SPAN.

Features and functionality

  • SPAN's default slope setting tilts the spectrum; adjusting to 0 provides a more realistic level view.

    Source
  • SPAN can be set up to analyze several tracks simultaneously, though FL Studio users may need specific tutorials to achieve this configuration effectively.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • SPAN excels in matching frequency responses during mixing, not in matching mastered track loudness.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • Users recommend using SPAN for visual help in matching low-end frequency levels, especially in visually-challenging environments.

    Source
  • Users report challenges using SPAN's overlay feature in FL Studio; multiple instances may need to be detached for effective analysis of multiple tracks.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners find value in SPAN when used alongside other tools like oscilloscopes to identify difficult-to-hear frequency resonances.

    Source
  • It's noted that SPAN's overlay can be unreliable, leading some to opt for a detached setup to better compare track frequencies.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Some users suggest Fabfilter Pro Q 3 might offer a smoother experience compared to SPAN for analyzing multiple track frequencies, though SPAN is still preferred for visual analysis.

solid, but stock is meta

not much to say, it's fine, and if you want a bit more detail out of your graph, this is solid, but i only ever use graphs as a reference, not a hard mixing tool, to maybe not my thing

Excellent spectrum analyzer

I use the free version of this, and I love it. I use it for mastering, checking for clipping, and just as a visualizer when I want to kick back and listen to my song. It really is awesome that its a free plugin.

A visual feedback

Great visual aid. Sometimes when you're mixing something or equalizing, it comes in handy to have a tool like this to see what you are cutting of, or boosting.
