I bought this guitar in 2016, the price without the case was about 950 €. The guitar came in a very good fine factory-tuning and could be played very well from the beginning. A very fast fretboard, despite the high gloss finish - but a matte finish would not fit to such a hollow-body! All in all the 5422 TG in "walnut-stain" (WS) version is an excellent and well-balanced semi-acoustic with the typical country sound of a Gretsch! .. looks a little bit like the great brother "Country Gentlemen" The absolute highlight is, of course, the gold hardware and the huge Bigsby tremolo, which by the way is very tonally stable. It belongs rightfully to the middle class of hollow-body guitars.
Made in China, but with excellent craftsmanship. Two P90 pickups provide a solid sound with emphasis on the mid and high frequencies. 3-way switch – that's all you need. Volume and tone controls work perfectly. The body and neck are very well balanced, and the guitar is neither top-heavy nor bottom-heavy.
A very good low budget copy of the Gibson ES-335 with a warm Sound and a rich sustain. A perfect backup on stage.
I bought it in 1996 in the music store 'Kunz' in Düsseldorf (Germany). The widow of a deceased dance band bassist had given him on commission. The price was 1.250 DM (approx. 620 €), including Fender hardcase and original Fender US owner's license. It was played by me on many stages for more than 15 years; now the bass is retired and only used in the studio. The bass has a really outstanding sustain and I've hardly ever seen a Precision Bass that comes close. Together with my AMPEG B2 (1x15") and its active equalization I won't even notice that it "only" has a split-coil pickup - I don't miss anything! This Bass is in a very good condition, serviced by a regional luthier and without any dings and dongs! Today these rare instruments are traded above 3.500 €/3.800 $
... just an acoustic bass, that makes no difference, but: You will like it to take it with you to the beach's jam sessions :-)
I used to think that the more “landmines” a guitarist had in front of him on stage, the better he was... OK, that's complete nonsense, of course, but nevertheless, that idea stuck in my head for many years. Well, with this Quad Cortex from NEURAL, the Finns have shown us how it's done, and I think they've done an excellent job! Everything can always be improved, and there are still a few areas here that could be tweaked, but all in all, I don't really need any other device to create my sounds! The standard presets, combined with all the free downloads from the QC community and, if you like, a plug-in or two, are more than enough to generate great sounds across all genres and save them in playlists. Besides the QC, my pedalboard only has a wireless receiver, a permanently displaying tuner, an expression pedal, and the MIDI remote control from Luminite. That's it!
