Critic Reviews

Amidst a Wealth of Options, Why Do So Many Bands Choose the Behringer FCB1010 Foot Controller? - Gear Gods

geargods.net

The Behringer FCB1010 is a budget-friendly MIDI foot controller that appeals to many musicians, particularly those using Fractal and Kemper systems. Its affordability and modifiability are highlighted as key strengths, with customization options like the EurekaPROM enhancing its capabilities. However, it lacks out-of-the-box advanced features and robust construction compared to pricier alternatives. Despite its popularity, potential buyers should weigh its cost-effectiveness against the need for durability and features found in higher-end models. The review suggests considering other options if budget allows, making it a versatile yet modest choice for those on a tight budget.

Extremely versatile and sturdy MIDI foot controller.

This is the sort of wonderful bit of kit that some keyboardists may ignore (a) because of the manufacturer (which I personally think garner more criticism than they deserve) or (b) because it looks like a guitar multi-FX unit. But if you take into account that this is MIDI controller, it boasts a hell of a lot under the hood, and takes away a lot of hassle from a setup with multiple MIDI devices.

Some may baulk at the programming via a multi function two LED display, but it's well worth having a sit down with the user guide and seeing just what it can do. If that's still too much for you there is a software programmer for it as well which is easier to navigate.

When you consider that the two expression pedals and all of the number switches are capable of sending practically any known MIDI message, it soon becomes clear that this device has a lot going for it. Patch changes for any MIDI device, pedals to control volume, effect parameters, synth parameters, sequencer start & stop. It will transmit note numbers so you can trigger anything from samples to thundering bass notes from your favourite Taurus VST.

This thing has got me out of numerous performance hassles many times over. It is solidly built and can take the regular knocks that it will get on the road. I liked mine so much I actually bought a second one!

emuemulator2

It's pretty good.

The build quality is great. I use it to send notes to my Behringer Toro. Downsides are that there are only 10 footswitches so I can't play every single note on 1 bank. But I can use the other banks for different keys and stuff. The switches are also a little close together for my tastes. (I wear size 12 shoes for reference Your mileage may vary.)

Perfect for Guitar Rig

He bought a FCB1010 and an Un0 chip for use with Guitar Rig 5 and Amplitube 4. This is not an ordinary multi-effect pedal, it's a midi foot controller designed for digital racks and rack-based vst plugins

eric_kirscht

Practical, but and not too expensive, but ...

... quiet complicate to set it up. honestly without youtube I would have been lost. And the midicabel sit quiet loose so that you loose connection with even light movements of the gear.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I hardly use the volumepedal and Wah. its more for the remote floorbased sound switches on the g-major 2. Calibration of Pedals is really complicate and not so stable/reliable.

Very versatile!

Very programmable MIDI unit. Supports triggering MIDI notes (yes, I've used it to play pedal keyboards) — it's unfortunate it doesn't have 12 note-pedals! There's an amazing modding community in the internet, but I haven't modded my unit.

jimmarchi1

the functionality on this thing is SO FAR BEYOND my needs, and despite behringer's bad rep mine seems sturdy as heck.... the downside of all the functionality is that it takes forever to program. After spending a lot of time creating nice presets on the devices I have it controlling its hard to get motivated to map the FCB to switch them all together...

pinosvalle

Very useful, especially with the UNO chip

It's a headache to set it up "bare", but with the UNO chip and configuration software, everything is solved. Very versatile and robust. Very good price.

Great value, a little rough

You can't beat this thing for the price. A lot of it is plastic, but very mod-able.

jimmarchi1

I just got a VERY sued one... sturdy as hell but a bit annoying to program with multiple MIDI devices even just for preset changes. I haven't even delved into the CC changes beyond setting up a global tap tempo on switch 10.... worth it to have 8 or 9 presets controlling pedal-based drive/distortion, delay and what amps are feeding my speakers

alejandroamotta

Changed chip

I have change the original chip for an UNOprom non oficial. The original have a problem: It sends always a strange tap tempo signal. Dont understand why Beringer dont change this after the years of knowing.. Is just a tiny transformation...

J

Universal effect pedal

Just bought this for my bassist to control effects on ableton. A universal effect pedal

Quick Fix

Better than setting up an analogue board with 3 extra cables.

Corey uses a the behringer foot switch to controll all of his effect changes. all of the effects are built in effects in the kemper. he tweaks these effects to get the desired tone that he likes. on the controller, he has two cc pedals. one is set as a wah, while the other is set as a volume pedal. when volume pedal is backed off all the way, it will mute the signal, and activate the tuner on the kemper
