Ally McErlaine, guitarist for Texas and Red Sky July, is confirmed to use a mid-1970s Gibson ES-335 Sunburst. This guitar, which he received when joining Texas at age 17, was played on every Texas album and tour and appeared on the cover of their 1989 single "I Don’t Want A Lover." The guitar, valued at over £3000, was lost at a charity concert in Battersea Park in 2012 but was later recovered by Brighton-based photographer Martin Burton. Burton said, “A friend, who had been staying with me for a few months, emigrated leaving some of his possessions behind in storage. I recall him saying that the guitar had been in lost property but no one had been able to find the owner. I’d forgotten about it until I read a story online about Ally looking for his lost guitar.”
