The Keeley Hydra combines tremolo and reverb in a compact pedal, delivering high-quality sounds and extensive features. With user-friendly footswitching, onboard presets, and versatile connectivity options, it's a practical addition for live performers. However, if you're not keen on having both effects in tandem, this may not be the gear for you. Overall, it impresses with its thoughtful design and sound quality, making it a worthy investment for guitarists seeking to expand their pedalboard.

Keeley Hydra Stereo Reverb & Tremolo review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Keeley's Hydra is a compact powerhouse that beautifully merges reverb and tremolo effects, delivering exceptional tones while saving pedalboard space. With an array of features—like tap tempo, presets, and expression pedal capability—it offers immense flexibility for any player. The diverse reverb types and the ability to sync the tremolo enhance the creative possibilities. However, some users may wish for a dedicated space between effects, making it feel a tad cramped in its design. Overall, the Hydra is a clever and versatile choice for those seeking classic sounds with a modern twist.

Kinda broken

TL;DR

Pros: • 3 banks • Reverb modulation control (spring age, etc.) • Tap tempo • Infinite Hold • Cool tremolo • Small and lightweight

Cons: • Occasionally turning into "All Wet" mode (broken) • Loud pop when turning effect on (broken) • Low quality reverb sound • Complex • Switching presets takes time (too much tapping!)

I ordered hydra couple weeks ago. After first few hours of playing the tremolo depth knob fell off. Sometimes when I plugged Hydra to the power it switched to all wet mode, which was annoying and without a manual hard to revert. I think my Hydra was broken, whenever I turned it on there was a pop in my amp, which makes this effect unplayable. The reverb seems small and cheap when compared to other reverb effects, like Strymon BlueSky - maybe it isn't, but that's how it felt.

Great features are: 3 banks, reverb modulation control (spring age, shimmer amount, etc.), tap tempo, infinite hold, tremolo. However switching between presets takes time and it's hard to do during song - you must perform multiple taps. Also Hydra is small and lightweight, which makes it perfect to fit any board.

For the price of 300$ I would expect Hydra to work properly and much better reverb quality.

Keeley will usually fix your pedal no matter how long ago you bought it. I had a similar thing with mine at one point but it's cause one of the switches got held down while power was off and put it into latching mode. It is a little picky with power supplies though.
