A Good and Cheap Tubescreamer with Overdrive Settings

Its a Tubescreamer in Middel Troggle Switch, with 2 more Overdrive Voicings It has 3 Settings per Troggle Switch 1st Setting is kinda Bluesdriverish Overdrive 2nd Setting is kinda Tubescreamer 3rd Setting is kinda Transparent Overdrive It sounds Good on all 3 Positions, also when 1 and 3 are a bit similar and an Overdrive Voicing and the middel is the pure Tubescreamer. It can be loud , so also be used as a Boost.

When the Plumes is used alone on Low Level settings the Volume is very different when you change the position, what can be a dislike, but easy to understand because the middel Position is the pure Tubescreamer the 1st postion is quieter, Middel Position has much more Volume where the Tubescreamer is and the Last Position is similar to 1st Position, but even a bit more quieter. But when you run this into another Pedal after the Plumes like the Rat, the Volume will be pretty the same on all Positions, also when you run the Pedal on higher Volume the difference when troggeling in Volume is not that much anymore present.

On a Clean Fender Rod Hot Deluxe IV, my fav. settings are: Troggel Switch Middel Tube Screamer, Level 8:00, Gain 13:00, Tone 15:00 with low output Pick ups like a Jazzmaster Middel Position, the Hot Rod Rod sounds some kinda Dumble Steel String Singer Amp kindish. I like all about this pedal , only not that Volume changes that much with the troggle Switch, but it is acceptable and to understand because the middel position is something very else and a Tube screamer and does push the Amp more then the other settings with the Vocings and you mostly will not switch the troggle in the middel of a song or something, so I am fine with this , also when I was a bit shocked and dissapointed about that, when had it on the 1st time.

The tone on this feels really full. I usually have the switch in the middle position when playing metalcore (ETID, The Holly Springs Disaster), but I like it all the way to the right for things like Sleep.

works for anything. I use it to slightly drive my amp or to add grit to rhythm power chords. Also stacks with fuzz or other drives well.

Plumes is pretty simple on paper: a Tube Screamer with 3 voice settings.

There are dozens of TS circuit clones and mods on the market, some available for way less and some for way more money. Once could argue that any Tube Screamer will do the TS job, and would probably be right. But at $99 brand new, this high quality Earthquaker Devices pedal should find a place on your board.

It sounds just as good for pushing a high gain amp as it's a good overdrive on its own when ran through a sweet sounding clean channel.

There is not much more to say about it; it looks great, it's green, and has more options than a standard Ibanez TS. Get one!

For 99 dollars, this is one of the best overdrive pedals out there. This hasn't left my board since 2020!

If you have narrowed down your search for the next overdrive, and the Plumes is still on the list, just buy it. It is truly an awesome pedal. The three voices make it a very versatile pedal. In a nutshell you have a bluesbreaker on the left, a clean boost on the middle and a tube screamer on the right. All three work really well with tone and drive knobs and the plumes pairs astoundingly well with other pedals. The headroom on this thing is also something to be revered. It’s just great.

Not For Bass

Its actually aight, i just hate it cause EQD advertised it for bass. Its way to bright, thin and clanky for bass. Of Course in certain Setups it will work for bass, but you need that specific Setup to make it sound the way it does in the Camilla Charlesworth commercial.

I Used it to thicken the Sound of my Bass Muff. I Had a Cheap PD7 before wich did the job way better. Now i use a BB-1X instead wich is even better and does everything i wanted the Plumes to do.

EQD-typical is the processing top, the controller respond well with small changes and provide over the entire control range useful sound, top! For Crunch, the pedal convinces, from quasi-clean to neatly steamy multi-layered sound that actually reminds of a Tubescreamer. The modes also have different amounts of volumeboost reserves, but in any case more than a normal TS.

Great transparent overdrive

Usable tone in every setting, good on its own, or as a boost. Great for sculpting clean, dirty tone, etc..

I owned lots os TS and TS like pedals. I still do own quite a few. This is the only one that never leaves the board and is always kept around. Love it!
