Description

Unleash the true potential of your guitar with the EarthQuaker Devices Grand Orbiter V3, a versatile 4-stage OTA-based phaser pedal designed to add an extra layer of depth and resonance to your sound. This pedal is not just a phaser, but a whole sonic toolkit that allows you to journey from a stationary, resonant tone to a slow, mellow vibe and all the way up to a fast, swirling sound.

The Grand Orbiter V3 comes with a three-way toggle switch that allows you to select between the modulation ranges. With the Rate 1 mode, you can achieve a slow sweep effect while the Rate 2 mode turns off the LFO, enabling you to use the Grand Orbiter as a fixed resonant filter. The Rate 3 mode is for those who love to experiment with a fast sweep sound.

The master Rate control fine-tunes the speed of the LFO in each mode, and the flashing LED serves as a visual indicator, even when the effect is in bypass mode. It also features Depth and Sweep controls to blend the shifted signal and govern the peak frequency of the phased signal's tone. Plus, the Resonance provides a broad range of control over regeneration, adding a more pronounced and resonant tone at higher settings.

The Phase/Vibrato switch allows the Grand Orbiter to also serve as a true pitch vibrato, offering even more versatility. This 100% analog pedal is hand-built in Akron, Ohio, ensuring top-notch quality and performance.

Critic Reviews

Review round-up: stunning phaser pedals | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The EarthQuaker Devices Grand Orbiter V3 is praised for its intuitive design and versatility, offering three rate options and a pitch vibrato feature. While it excels in classic phaser sounds, users might initially find the controls confusing in vibrato mode. The intelligent switching between latching and momentary modes adds flexibility, making it a solid choice for those seeking both traditional and experimental sounds. Overall, it's a compelling option with minor learning curves.

More than a phaser - versatile!

I've never been a fan of the Phase 90 or Small Stone - they just sound like a whooshing sound on top of my signal, not like they're really blending with the signal. Right away the Grand Orbiter fixes that by adding a Depth (blend) knob. Sweep ("tone") and Resonance (regeneration) knobs are also very useful, so I can have a subtle, dark phase in the background of my signal rather than this obnoxious WHOOOOOOOSH right up front.

This can also be used as a vibrato pedal, although a slightly less-useful one, since the depth knob acts as a volume knob, not a normal depth knob - so you'll need it full up. Still, bringing the regeneration all the way down and sweep all the way up gives you a pretty nice vibrato, and bringing the regen up a bit more gives you a slightly phasery vibrato. It's an interesting, almost haunted sound.

Finally, using it on mode 2 as a "fixed phaser" gives you a filter for tonal coloring. I find it useful over my bass to give the bass a different tone altogether.
