Brian Fallon's Effects Pedals
In talking about the pedals in Brian Fallon's pedalboard setup, his tech says the signal flows from his wah pedal, to the Fulltone OCD, and then to the Black Arts Pharaoh pedal (19:40 into this video). He says, "...it's a fuzz pedal that's been really good." The flow continues into the "mystery EVH Phase 90."
Per Brian Fallon's Instagram post: WARNING - this post is for the nerds - like me. For anyone who asked me how I got the rhythm tone on 59 Sound and every other record - this pedal combined my whole guitar world into one. Oh, yeah and it does some other clowns named Mike Campbell, and John Frusciante, and Mark Knopfler too. Never heard of ‘em though. Hear they’re coming up. @keeleyelectronics
The 2nd pedal in Brian Fallon's simple pedalboard setup, after his Jim Dunlop British Invasion Wah, is the Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal, which his guitar tech says is set to a "really, really minimal drive to it, you can see it's just barely set, and that's just a little bit more drive." (19:29 into this rig rundown video).

Happy @earthquakerdev Earthquaker Day! While solo LP2 is being mixed, I thought I'd take this opportunity to let you know that this little Pedal helped me a great deal during the writing and recording of the record. It goes from subtle slapback, subtle reverb, to beautiful swells and reverse tape delay that really helped create some cool sounds and inspired some of the music that came out. Check it out for yourself and see if it doesn't open a few doors in your mind's ????
Fallon’s Salvage Custom pedalboard features an internally hidden T-Rex Fuel Tank Chameleon power source. On top, the signal enters a Dunlop British Invasion Cry Baby Wah decorated with a limited-edition Union Jack paint job. Next is a Fulltone OCD, then a Black Arts Pharaoh that runs into a MXR EVH90 Phase 90. Last in line is a tried-and-true Boss TU-3.
In this interview, Fallon says he started using the SS-3 after seeing it on Noel Gallagher's pedalboard:
“Noel is actually the reason I ended up playing 355s. I started out with 335s but thought his looked cooler with the Custom shop logo. And he’s got a killer sound live, so I checked out his rig and saw a Cornish SS-3. And seriously, they’re the best pedals I’ve played in my life… what they do is insane.
That’s the beauty of it, I can do whatever I want with a day’s notice and get people to play different parts!
“There’s a buffer in there, so if you have a lot of pedals, it runs through that before anything to clean and brighten it up. Even when the pedal’s off, the buffer is still running in there. It does something weird to the tone, but in the best way possible.
“It makes a Klon look like kid’s stuff. I don’t wanna hear that sound anymore, I can hear it on every record. It’s a bit like the Tube Screamer! The only person I want to hear playing a Tube Screamer is Stevie Ray Vaughan.”

Around 19:17 in this rig rundown, Brian Fallon's relatively simple pedalboard is discussed. One of the pedals (the first one in the chain) is the Jim Dunlop British Invasion Cry Baby Wah Pedal. His guitar tech identifies it as the "Vox normal wah... just the British painted edition." He continues to say it's used by Fallon "just for fun stuff, every now and then."
The signal flow then goes into the Fulltone OCD pedal.

Someone asked me about my guitar rig recently, so here it is… Now, this changes ALL the time, so it’s different from tour to tour, sometimes from show to show. I like to try new stuff and keep revolving things in and out.
There’s a few things missing… for shows we use a Fender Eric Clapton Twinolux set to half power with this 1956 Fender Deluxe shown here.
Sometimes the Deluxe gets replaced with a Penn Amp Tremlux built by Billy Penn at 300 Guitars.
They’re both on all the time and they run just on the clean side of dirty.
For pedals, I usually use that Lovepedal Eternity there, or for any leads I use the Fulltone Soulbender. The Pedal looking thing is a Fulltone Deja Vibe, which I got from listening to way too much Tom Petty. It’s awesome, and it’s always set to Chorus.
The main guitar I use is a Gibson ES -345 that Nash Guitars converted into a 335 and painted Pelham Blue. (thanks Brendan O’ Brien) it has Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups in it.
So that’s what I’m using most of the time, subject to change at any moment…
