Hugh Cornwell's Gear
GG: Has it always been the Vox AC30 amps you’ve used? HC: Yeah, I love Voxes.
Hugh Cornwell has been playing a Fender Telecaster since the early days of The Stranglers. Before his departure, he also incorporated a Kinkade Brothers Acoustic, a Hofner Razorhead solid body, and a Rickenbacker 12-string into his setup. Today, his performances predominantly feature the Telecaster, as illustrated in the Pennyblackmusic photo.

"But I do have a backup Blues DeVille. A couple of years ago, I was having so much trouble with the Voxes, I thought (sighs) ‘I’ve gotta go to the Blues DeVilles.’ You can get a pretty good sound out of them, but they are very much more powerful, so they’re almost harder to keep under control."
