Noel Gallagher
Noel Gallagher's Amplifiers
Around the time of recording Oasis’ first album, Noel started using Marshall heads and cabinets. The usual setup was two JCM900 heads, each one connected with the Marshall cabinet. He probably used these amps on most of the Oasis’ albums until 2000s.
Those amps were used for 1994 concerts, as seen in this video, where they are seen at 3:43 minute mark, and they are behind him the whole time. Also, Bonehead is also thought to use those amp heads.
Used in the pre-Defiantly Maybe era, when they(band) were doing small gigs. In the interview with Music Radar, Noel noted that he began using Vox AC-30 again with his new band, but can’t recall for sure if he ever recorded on one with Oasis – but nonetheless he used it live.
When asked how he goes about transferring his album sound to the stage for Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Noel states that he doesn't spend too much time and effort worrying about accurate sound reproduction, since he believes the crowd doesn't quite care about such things. He then mentions a couple of the amps he uses live: "...I just use my little Fender Blues Junior and my Hiwatt Custom 100. They're great. That's what I've used live for the last five or six years." You can see for the first time in the 0:22 of the video.
Noel was occasionally seen with Orange heads on stage. It is not known if he ever recorded with one. Also used in the music video "Stop Crying your heart out".
In an interview where Noel Gallagher talks about his guitars, gear, and his band High Flying Birds, he reveals some of the amp choices, and how he focused on trimming down and taking away from the "excesses" of the Oasis sound:
"Hmm…[long pause] Well, it is a new sound…but only from taking things away. I didn't invent anything. I just took elements…and the excesses of Oasis, like the extra guitars and the fucking…I just took 'em away. I didn't add anything; I just left the space. The new sound is me singing all the songs and there's one less guitarist.
"As far as amps and stuff, what did I use?... I used a Hiwatt Custom 100, a Blackface Fender '64 Deluxe, a 1980's Vox AC30… I'm not sure I've used any of these on Oasis records before… I can't remember!"

In this Instagram photo posted by Noel Gallagher, he can be seen playing a Fender Jazzmaster through a Fender '68 Custom Twin Reverb, which according to his caption is a newly acquired amp of his. He says:
New shoes. New amp. New album. There is no rest for the wicked ones.
Instagram photo posted Sept 2016. The knob configuration of the amp, along with the clearly visible "TWIN REVERB" lettering in blue identifies it as the Fender '68 Custom Twin Reverb 85W 2x12" Guitar Combo Amplifier.
Noel Gallagher is seen here with a WEM Dominator MKIII 15 Watt Amp behind him.
This amp was heavily used on Definitely Maybe - both recording and touring for it. In Oasis' first debut for TV, he played through this amp and some kind of Marshall combo amp.
A recent amp, used with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
In this Premier Guiar interview, Gallagher said he used this amp to record "Chasing Yesterday".
"For the last 10 years I’ve used Custom Hiwatt heads, and in the studio for this record I used a great blackface Fender Deluxe."
This AC4 TV is a reissue of the classic AC4 amps from the early-1960s and is meant to capture the punch and chimey top end of the original. The circuit is wildly different than the original handwired masterpiece, but it’s still a mean little amp. You might have noticed the speaker cable hanging out of the back. The amp has been modded to have that output so you can run it into a cabinet. Cheers, to whichever of Noel’s guitar techs did that.

This Fender Bassbreaker comes from the private collection of Noel Gallagher.
15 watts from two EL84 tubes for aggressive midrange character
Used with late Oasis and more recent, High Flying Birds.
According to this transcript of the first issue of Oasis magazine, a Bluesbreaker was used by Noel when recording the '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?' album. In the interview, Owen Morris says, " On this album the equipment he used was: guitars – his trusty Epiphone semi, a Firebird, a Les Paul, a vintage Strat and a couple of Epiphone acoustics: amps – his stupidly loud Marshall stack, a Marshall Bluesbreaker combo, an Orange and an early sixties Vox AC30."
In this video of a Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds performance in South East London for Absolute Radio in 2015, Noel Gallagher can be seen using a pair of THD Hot Plate Guitar Amplifier Power Attenuators (8 Ohms) on top of his Fender Blues Junior amp. A good shot of them can be seen at 2:26 minute mark.
He likely needs two of these THD Hot Plate Attenuators for the two tube amps he's using live - the Fender Blues Junior, and below it his Hiwatt Custom 100 Combo.
Noel Gallagher had the Hiwatt Audio Brothers Era Custom 50 Vertical 2x12 Combo re-created by Hiwatt UK around 2012. This amplifier features Partridge transformers, Fane speakers, and an open-back design, reminiscent of the 1990s style. Several combos and cabinets were produced to match this specification. A user-uploaded photo from Primarytalent confirms this setup.
In the video for D'You Know What I Mean? You can see Noel's rig throughout. It consists of 2 Orange OR-120s each with 2 Orange 4x12 cabs. The Ronnie Montrose Signature amp is a bit of a collector piece.
Built like a tank and weighing in around 4.5 kilos. It’s a solid state amp that stays clean up to 10 o’clock and then starts to kick in some distortion. The birds egg blue cab is painted rather than tolex and has a few chips in it.
The Big Industries hangtag is still on the aluminum handle and has some wear to it. On the back of the cab, the word OASIS is biro'd on it.
Montrose was an American guitarist who led the bands Montrose and Gamma but did killer work with everyone from Herbie Hancock and Tony Williams to Boz Scaggs and Sammy Hagar. If you’ve never heard his playing, seek it out.
Buyers from outside the UK, please be aware that the power on these pieces are setup for 240 V operation.
All items in this shop come with a certificate of authenticity signed by Noel Gallagher.
In this interview, Noel Gallagher says he used a Fender Blackface Deluxe when recording his 2014 album, 'Chasing Yesterday'.
As you can see in the minute 4:08 to 4:13 Noel is using a fender bassman amp.
This Watkins Westminster was produced sometime in the early-1960s. This amp rates at about 14 watts and is one of those secret-weapon amps in studios and player collections. Warm, and rich overdrive at low volumes that are perfect for recording applications — set the overdrive pedals aside and use the real thing. It’s pretty worn, but it’s over 50 years old so that’s to be expected. Note that the control panel has sunk in a little bit.
Gallagher's Supergroup Session 50 was listed on Reverb.com in 2017 along with a Bass 100.

Noel Gallagher owned this Ampeg SVT-810E 8x10 Bass Cabinet, often likened to a "refrigerator with speakers" due to its robust design. The cabinet features eight custom-made 10” Eminence speakers and shows signs of wear, such as rusty corners and worn tolex. While it may have been used by Andy Bell at some point, the cabinet is being sold in its current condition on reverb.com.
Noel has owned this Audio brothers era Hiwatt Custom 100 combo for many years. Noel started to used this model in tour in 2008. Hiwatt built Noel additional vertical 2x12 Combos as well as matching 2x12 vertical speaker cabinets.
Noel Gallagher owned this Vox AC30H, a workhorse amplifier known for its robust performance despite lacking a case and its front badge. This particular amp, from the Rose Morris era of the 1990s, has a storied history, similar to the ones used by other British legends like Paul McCartney. Its history and usage are documented on Reverb.com.
