Description

Step back in time with the 1979 Marshall 2144, a classic embodiment of vintage rock sound that has stood the test of time. Originally released in the late '70s, this amplifier is a testament to Marshall's renowned craftsmanship, catering to musicians who crave that authentic, raw, and powerful tone. The integrated phase inverter is a standout feature, providing a distinctive punch and clarity that has been a staple in countless recordings and live performances.

Designed with a solid-state preamp and tube power amp, the 2144 offers a unique hybrid design which was quite innovative for its time. This combination delivers the best of both worlds: the reliability of a solid-state preamp and the warmth and natural compression of a tube power stage, making it a versatile choice for guitarists looking for diverse tonal possibilities. Whether you're playing blues, rock, or metal, this amp has the ability to shape and mold your sound to fit any musical genre.

Its compact 2x12 configuration ensures it is powerful enough for most venues, yet remains manageable for transport and setup. Musicians will appreciate the straightforward control layout, which provides a seamless operation that keeps the focus on playing rather than adjusting settings. The Marshall 2144 remains a cherished piece of gear for collectors and musicians alike, preserving the iconic sound that defined a generation.

"I’d never seen a master volume JMP combo with reverb from the factory (Marshall apparently only made around 200). I’d always liked the JMP’s but I’d always passed on them due their lack of reverb. This one sounded incredible so I had to have it and it’s been the core of my basic sound ever since. It runs with Eminence ‘Governor’ speakers."
