This archtop guitar named 'Sally' was a gift to Clapton during his November 2003 Tour of Japan from Takahiro Shimo, a Japanese guitar and ukulele maker known for his imaginative designs. Shimo designed and built this guitar with a 15½ inch wide body and lightening shaped f-holes and hand-crafted in its entirety down to the mother-of-pearl truss rod cover and the Perspex® pickguard/knobs, as well as hand-winding the pickup using new-old-stock wire from the 1950s.
