ARP 2600 FS

soundonsound.com

Korg's ARP 2600 FS is a stunning homage to the legendary original, featuring remarkable cosmetic accuracy and a solid build. The added modern enhancements like the Type I/II filter switch and aftertouch on the new 3620 keyboard elevate its functionality. However, while the arpeggiator and sequencer add versatility, their limitations, such as fixed gate length and the loss of sequences upon power-off, may frustrate some users. Overall, this synth beautifully bridges nostalgia and innovation, making it an exciting choice for both vintage enthusiasts and modern creators.

positive

ARP 2600 FS

soundonsound.com

The Korg ARP 2600 FS delivers a modern twist on a classic synth, boasting a robust build and a cleaner signal path that enhances its iconic sound. While it captures the essence of the original ARP 2600 impressively, slight differences in sound character and contour response may deter purists. MIDI capabilities are limited, which could frustrate those seeking expressive performances. However, its overall reliability and improved features make it a worthy investment for both seasoned players and newcomers to analog synthesis. If you're dreaming of a vintage ARP but can't afford one, the 2600 FS is a compelling alternative.

Korg ARP 2600 FS review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Korg's ARP 2600 FS is a stunning homage to a synth legend, delivering a rich, authentic sound and impressive build quality that echoes the original. While the addition of MIDI and USB connectivity is a welcome modernization, the basic MIDI implementation and lack of velocity sensitivity on the keyboard may frustrate some users. Nonetheless, the overall craftsmanship and sonic capabilities make this reissue a worthwhile investment for serious electronic musicians, despite the hefty price tag.

Korg ARP 2600 FS: A Long-Awaited Wish Comes True - Synth and Software

synthandsoftware.com

Korg's ARP 2600 FS strikes a nostalgic chord with musicians seeking vintage sounds, offering rich timbres and a dynamic interface that invites experimentation. Its semi-modular design and three oscillators provide a versatile sound palette, making it an excellent tool for sound design. However, its hefty price tag of nearly $4,000 may deter budget-conscious buyers, and the need for constant tuning can be cumbersome. Despite these drawbacks, the synth's ability to inspire creativity and deliver unique sonic results makes it a compelling choice for dedicated enthusiasts. Overall, this synth feels like a long-awaited dream realized, albeit at a premium cost.

Korg / ARP 2600 FS - comeback of a vintage classic - GreatSynthesizers

greatsynthesizers.com

Korg’s ARP 2600 FS revives a legendary synth with modern enhancements, combining stunning aesthetics with MIDI capabilities, aftertouch, and a solid arpeggiator. While it delivers a powerful, pleasant analog sound, it lacks the unique character of its 1971 predecessor, leaning towards a cleaner tone. The updated features and robust build, including a road case, are commendable, yet some purists may miss the original's quirks and resonant depth. Overall, this homage to a classic manages to impress while leaving room for nostalgia.

It’s an ARP 2600. No more introduction needed

One of the most fun synths I’ve ever played. I could spend hours playing it with its internal speakers (I wasn’t expecting how good they sound). IMHO, along with the Minimoog Model D and the Prophet-5, the Arp 2600 is the best sounding analogue synth ever.
