REVIEW: Plugin Alliance Bettermaker EQ232D - Audio Media International

audiomediainternational.com

The Plugin Alliance Bettermaker EQ232D offers an impressive emulation of the revered Bettermaker EQ, delivering quick and versatile sound shaping that resonates particularly well in genres like hip-hop and EDM. Its unique interface, while initially daunting, quickly becomes intuitive, allowing for smooth and musical EQ adjustments. However, it may not be as effective with certain mid-range guitar tracks, where care is needed to maintain grit. The lack of compatibility with every DAW could also be a drawback for some users. Despite these minor shortcomings, this plugin is poised to become a go-to for many producers looking to enhance their mixes.

Bettermaker EQ232D Review

musictech.com

The Bettermaker EQ232D shines as a modern take on the classic 232P MkII, delivering impressive clarity and flexibility, particularly for electronic genres like hip-hop and EDM. Its combination of vintage Pultec-style EQ and modern semi-parametric bands allows for creative sound shaping that feels intuitive. However, it struggles with guitar-centric styles where a touch of analogue warmth is missed. While the interface is sleek and user-friendly, the plugin's clean sound may not appeal to everyone. Still, for those who appreciate a straightforward EQ that prioritizes musicality over numbers, the EQ232D is a compelling choice.

Bettermaker EQ232D plugin review by George Shilling

recordproduction.com

A solid homage to the classic EQ232P, the Plugin Alliance Bettermaker EQ232D plugin delivers rich, punchy sounds perfect for kick drums and more. The Pultec-style EQ shines, offering smooth operation and flexibility, but the interface can feel clunky with its nudge buttons that may frustrate users. While it lacks an EQ graph, its powerful features and robust design make it a compelling choice. Overall, it captures the essence of its hardware counterpart at an accessible price, but expect a learning curve.

impressive !!

Did a shootout with that and some other EQs ( SPL passiveEQ, Melda TurboEQ, Maag EQ4, Brainworx EQs etc....) and decided I had a legitimate need for it based on how smooth it is on the master. It's a really nice sweetener and has this ability to target only the desired frequencies and give just the right tonal emphasis you're looking for, without any harsh resonance. Very impressive , and PA's installation and licencing system never fail to impress either. I love this company !!
