Crazy Tube Circuits Falcon and Killer V Reviews | GuitarPlayer

guitarplayer.com

The Crazy Tube Circuits Killer V is a vintage-inspired pedal that captures the essence of '50s and '60s Magnatone amplifiers, delivering unique pitch-modulation effects that stand out in any rig. Reviewers praised its warm, rock-and-roll grit and versatile vibrato, which can evoke classic sounds without overwhelming the listener. However, while the Killer V excels in its modulation capabilities, some might find its gain structure less aggressive compared to competitors. Overall, it’s an exciting option for musicians looking to add character to their tone, particularly for roots and Americana genres.

Overdrive, boost, vibrato and uni-vibe

This pedal does a lot. I mainly use it as an overdrive with volume and master to match the amp. The overdrive is very similar to a Blues Driver but with less fizz on the decay. There's a lot of EQ. 3 overall settings...bright, normal and dark. I also use it as a fairly clean boost. With low output pickups (Fender Mustang) it remains clean with the volume down. With my Jazzmaster and Telecaster it clips even at lowest volume. The wet vibrato setting is glorious. Even with the depth up full it's useable. With the wet/dry switch engage you lose a bit of volume and low end. So if you're using this on that setting you will need to adjust the EQ accordingly, meaning you can't really use the overdrive side of the pedal as it'll be boosting volume too much. However, on the wet setting you can turn the vibrato on and off without any impact on the overdrive circuit. If I could only keep two drive pedals this would be one.
