My First Custom Built Strat!!!
I built this Electric Lady last year around spring/summertime and I haven't been able to put it down. I built it to my specifications and love how it plays. It has Kenny Wayne Shepherd pickups, but I will change them soon to Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot pups. I play it just about everyday and I take it just about everywhere I go, whether I play it that day or not. If you have the means and truly love guitar, I suggest building one rather than buying one. The experience is awesome and the connection to it is stronger than any guitar you could buy!

Building your own fender-style axe is where its at! I've tried Lindy's strat pups and you may be disappointed. There's nothing wrong with them but the vintage hot and blues models are not so different from the similar pickup models from Fender's custom shop. Personally I have realized that apart from the bridge I like my strat pickups on the low side of vintage. Consider contacting my buddy Ken at Angeltone Pickups for a customized set. I strongly recommend a set with low winds of 42awg wire and A3 magnets in neck and middle complimented by a slightly hot bridge with A2 magnets. Personally I like 43awg wire and a baseplate on a bridge pickup to get that fender broadcaster snarl.
