Features and functionality

  • The pedal offers 7 distinct settings, each with unique applications, but switching between them requires manual adjustments of trigger sensitivity, filter attack, and resonance.

    Source
  • The Bass Synth Wah creates synth-like sounds with envelope filtering, monophonic synth generation, and filter modulation, including a unique "Synth Talk" effect.

    Source
  • The pedal includes an octave down effect, lowering input pitch by an octave for a deeper synth-like bass sound.

    Source
  • Original pedals came with a replacement rubber for the switch plunger, which can wear down over time and affect functionality.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The synth wah is particularly effective for creating tones suitable for doom metal, with adjustable filter settings that can swell into a fuzzy landscape.

    Source
  • The pedal is noted for its ability to replicate Daft Punk's sound, specifically the "DigiTech Synth Talk" filter akin to the "Yeah" bass on their first track.

    Source

User experience

  • Despite its fun factor, some users find practical applications limited within a band setting, using it more for experimental purposes or short segments during performances.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The pedal's sound has been compared to the Enzo x, suggesting potential for reverse engineering similar tones.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • Users exploring software alternatives recommend VCV Rack for filter experimentation to emulate the Bass Synth Wah's unique effects.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • The pedal often consumes high power; fresh alkaline batteries are necessary as rechargeables or partly used batteries won't suffice.

    Source
  • Testing with a multimeter can help diagnose power issues; battery snaps can fail, affecting power delivery to the PCB.

This pedal does a lot in a small package.

If you want flange, phase, weird noises that will freak people out and make them say "You're making that sound with a guitar?", then this pedal will do the trick. It's not good with chords on a guitar... being that it was intended for bass, I didn't expect it to be... but if you're looking for an interesting part in a song, this thing can pull through, especially if the song already has a lot of electronic parts.

Ultra cheap - ultra diverse

Octaver, synth, filter, envelope, wah - all that in one pedal for little money. Every effect is high quality, really good sounding. You can really get some astonishing tunes with this bad boy.

T

Very nice, very accurate.

I love this pedal. It creates a wide variety of sounds and tracks your notes flawlessly. I use this pedal with guitar, and it does not like chords, I will say that.

Best bass pedal I own

The Suboctave, Filter & Synths this pedal can produce are trashy, but they are amazing in their own respects. Recommended for every board.

hakan

work horse

Many knobs on it but I keep it at 1 and mainly flat.. good envelope filter.. work horse.. had it for 10 years.. never fails.. but may be to be retired as it is the only digital pedal left on my board..

nicjimba55

Used for one song, but WOW

I only use this on the song Pony by Ginuwine. It's capable of much more, but it's perfect, so I keep using it.

Robot rock!

I plugged it in, and immediately realized that this was the one Daft Punk had been using. It cost 30 dollars, so I had to have it.
