MXR M84 Bass Fuzz Deluxe Pedal Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The MXR M84 Bass Fuzz Deluxe is a robust and versatile pedal that successfully addresses bassists' long-standing issues of getting lost in the mix. It offers a formidable range of fuzz tones that can fill a room with ease, along with separate volume controls for dry and wet signals, allowing for greater tonal flexibility. This pedal shines with its thick, muscular fuzz, making it a go-to for fans of stoner-rock and heavy bass lines. However, its powerful output might be overwhelming for those accustomed to a subtler presence in the mix. Overall, the M84 is a valuable tool for bassists seeking to maintain sonic clarity amidst distortion, earning a solid recommendation.

Sustain for days!

Fuzzed out bass is a beautiful sound and this pedal does it extremely well. The ability to mix the original signal (dry) with the fuzz (wet) is what sold me on this one. Get the fuzz without losing the thump... if that makes sense.

this fuzz does NOT effect the lowend

if you crank a fuzz and the mid and the high on your amp if off, does the fuzz make a sound? mxr bass fuzz deluxe doesn't. if your amps bass knob is the only knob on, you will NOT hear any fuzz when the pedal is engaged. mxr bass fuzz deluxe only effects the mids and high frequencies. this pedal cuts in the mix, others may say otherwise. i have no problem cutting through. the pedal sounds great with my gretsch g5123b, when i'm not getting feed back. maybe i'm cutting through because of the hollowbody's feedback? best way to describe this fuzz is stoner rock or black sabbath sounding fuzz. i come up with so many fuzz tones, and it's so easy to use. i always keep the dry knob at 12 o'clock.

Dunlop makes a great fuzz pedal

new bassist style need pedalboard. By my opinion fuzz is a one of those pedal that you need. Great. With wet and dry controls you use it for booster.

serdar_kalayci

Great fuzz pedal and extremely flexible

Great fuzz pedal and extremely flexible due to its dry/wet blend options.

The entirety of my distortion

Despite it being a bass pedal and me being a guitarist, this thing is just about everything I use for distortion effects. It makes everything sound amazing.
