It’s known for its variable attack, release, ratio and input/threshold controls, plus a de-essing section that can be used alone or with compression , making it useful on vocals, instruments, and mixing situations.

DOD R-825 Compressor/De-esser (HSR Mar 85)

muzines.co.uk

The DOD R-825 Compressor/De-esser offers a unique mono setup, distinguishing it from typical stereo competitors, and its standout feature is the integrated de-esser. While the compressor is functional, its attack and release times lag behind modern standards, and the manual leaves much to be desired in terms of guidance. Despite these drawbacks, the unit's ability to handle sibilants effectively is a notable advantage, especially in home studio scenarios where a single compressor suffices. However, its higher price compared to dual units might deter some buyers. Overall, it's a solid choice for users prioritizing de-essing.
